If true...it would be bold for the show to keep going. That would TRULY make it that ANYONE can die on the show.

After killing off Carl in season 8, Rick dying would be the final nail in the coffin. It might be time to have the characters find that miracle community and call it a series. TWD cannot survive with Daryl as the lead/series focus. ...and what happens to Michonne?

I just don't see them continuing the series without him, but what do I know. Although it would be nice for them to find some great community where they can finally live out their days in peace, I would not be surprised if the last season ends with literally everybody dying. They all finally get ate, and walkers rule the world.

They're talking about giving Norman Reedus a 20 million dollar contract so if that's true they're not looking to end the show anytime soon.

I don't see the show going without Rick. It is his story, remove him, and you may as well end the show. I love Daryl, but the show wouldn't work with him as the lead. Especially since his role on the show hasn't really been all that big on the show for the past few years, it's as though they literally believe fandom instantly jizz their pants whenever Daryl is on screen, and therefore they get away with having only grunt and fire off his crossbow.

Grunting and firing the crossbow is about all Daryl has done for a couple seasons now but that, and much of the lack of use of all the characters, has been a problem with the show for those couple seasons.

Losing Rick? Oy, I don't know that'd fundamentally change the series and how it draws from the source material, not sure how it'd survive after that. Unless they don't kill him off and keep him "there" just not as a main character and maybe he pops up from time to time.

Narratively, I agree that this, The Walking Dead, is Rick's story. If Lincoln's out, they should wrap it. If there's sufficient demand for the story of the remaining characters to continue, more characters can move over to Fear, or a new spin-off can be launched, or both.

I personally think it would be stupid to end it due to him leaving. But then, I've wished they'd kill him or Daryl a long time ago. Shake things up, keep it unexpected. The fact that they'd never dream of firing Lincoln or Reedus is exactly why I think one of them should go.

It's not a spoiler. It's a fact of Hollywood life. A spoiler would be "Rick gets face eaten off by Zombie Michonne in 3rd episode of season 9".

Without Rick, TWD becomes FTWD. And we don't need another of those. (Hell, we didn't need one).

Surprised it lasted this long. Haven't watched the recent season past the 1st few episodes and the last several seasons were a battle to get through as the pacing of the show is slower than a legless zombie.

You mean the mystery of the Zombies? There isn't one. We are not going to get any answers to that as Kirkman has stated.

I know he’s stated that for the comic but the TV show is a different beast.
Frankly I’m amazed people haven’t got bored with the comic by now. How many different variations of “evil” humans can you make?
