Season 7...Love It? Or Hate It?

Season seven was great and epic. Damar's change of heart, Odo being torn between his people and his Federation friends, Sisko's alter ego Benny Russel and so on. The stories I enjoyed the least where the episodes involving Romulans.

And I like both Jadzia and Ezri. I disliked Ezris's hairstyle, though. Like her mother. It was too boyish. It's not as if Ezri should have had long hair like Jadzia, but Nicole de Boer had more favorable hairstyles. But that's just me.

Neither, but closer to "hate". I am afraid season 6-7 for me were not as good as the first five seasons. So many bad character and plot choices.

I didn't dislike Ezri. No, yes I did. Had she been introduced seasons earlier as a young ensign on the station, who just happened to be the only Trill around when Jadzia died, okay, fine. But, there was so much important story to tell in season 7 and some 'aw shucks' wide-eyed doe of a character did nothing for the season. Other than that, high marks. Great season and a satisfying conclusion.

Loved season 7. I think they did an excellent job, overall. A few missteps, but with the exception of season 4 (which is as close to a perfect season STAR TREK ever got), every season has its clunkers.

I do wish Jake got some focus. Not only did he not get a single episode, or even half episode, devoted to his character, but he didn't really get a lot of scenes in season 7.

Yes. Spirit-Sisko goes and says goodbye to Cassidy, who he's known for, what, 4 years.... but not his son.

I loved her hair. I think girls that are pretty enough to still look great with short hair are few and far between. I thought it helped her look younger per the role, I'm sure she was young anyway.
She looked adorable in the role.

I think season 7 was fantastic. Jadzia had been my favourite character and I was so upset when she died. I hated the idea of there being a new Dax, but after 'imagine in the sand' and 'shadows and symbols' I'd fallen in love with Ezri. I felt a bit of a traitor to Jadzia but Ezri became my favourite. For me her introduction worked well as I felt so bad for her when Garak ripped into her, wished I could've given him a Kirk double fisted hammer to the shoulder! I feel it really played on the viewers emotions well.
Also Kira was next level in season 7 when she refused to back down to the Romulans!
I just wish there had been a film or some kind of follow up.

Ok, let me first speak freely about it...personally I love it. It is, in my mind, some of the best Trek there is. In fact, it is my favorite season of any trek show. The acting, the story lines, the writing, the ambience...but I digress.

With all of that said, I can see MANY reasons why some may hate it. It is arguably the most 'religious' of the seasons, it introduces Ezri, it is very war heavy, it has a long story arc at the end, and of course has the finale (some love it, some hate it). Now, personally, all of those things are what make me love S7. The final story arc is my favorite and I have lost count of the amount of times I've watched those episodes. I even have come to love the whole Dukat and Winn story, lol.

So...what do you all think? Why do you love it? Or why do you hate it?...or why are you indifferent?
I can understand how people may agree with some of the aspects that you pointed out, as reasons not to like this season (Though I am not one of them). All of that aside, I really enjoyed this season of the series.

- Liked Ezri (even though I usually hate characters like that).
- The religious stuff was unbelievably stupid, it's hard to think this is the same series that gave us "Duet".
- A lot of clichés in the writing. The whole Winn/Dukat/Sisko arc was the trigger of many a facepalm.
- Did like the Kira/Garak/Damar arc and Klingon stuff, though. As well as the scene where the admiral & Sisko refuse to celebrate on the corpses of the Cardassian civilians.
- Dukat, the once charismatic villain, kept getting worse and worse until it culminated in the cringeworthy ending in those "firecaves".

... so, mixed feelings.

Overall loved the season,
- The final arc was wonderful,
- Damar's development was just another great example of how DS9 could do so much with secondary characters.
- I liked what Ezri brought to the show ; but for me I never really liked Jadzia, she always seemed a bit ill defined to me.
- Favorite season seven out of the three shows for me
- Favorite final episode of any trek series
:)

Loved most of it... the pah-wraith stuff can go out of the nearest airlock though.

Overall I thought the culmination and resolution of the war was good, I liked the addition of Ezri (though would still have preferred Jadzia not have died), I liked that they still took the time for character beats and standalone episodes, like Nog's recovery, Ezri dealing with her family etc., and the finale was very bittersweet.

I like Ezri even if I didn't like that Jadzia was killed off.
When Farrell left, Jadzia shouldn't have been killed off. Instead she should have been captured by the Dominion, ending up in a prison camp and being rescued and re-united with Worf in the final episode. Farrel could probably have been persuaded to do the final episode.
Ezri could have been a sister to Jadzia or something like that.

Honestly after the actor's performance in Valiant the previous season I think the writers were wise to reduce Jake's screen time. I did find his scenes in What You Leave Behind very poignant.

What was wrong with his performance? The script reduced him to a third wheel, but I doubt he wrote his dialogue.

I could try to define why I thought it was dreadful, but what's the point if you enjoyed it? But if you insist I thought Cirroc Lofton blew his big scene standing up to the Red Squat leader. His delivery was just awful in that scene. I thought all The Red Squat cadets were unbearably bad actors; the whole episode is an example of failed casting.

Not what I said.

But if you insist I thought Cirroc Lofton blew his big scene standing up to the Red Squat leader.

He was playing a young man with zero experience and zero authority in the arena he found himself, attempting to convince a group of true believers that they were fools. It seems that he more or less hit the right tone.
