Absolutely, as I said I can live with it I just find it a shame and a missed opportunity although there is the possibility of it being rectified in a future season. As you stated, there was a lot riding on this show. And, this might sound extremely forgiving, but it doesn't bother me. Missed opportunity? Certainly, and maybe they'll go back and do a TOS-R on Season 1, kind of like "Children of the Gods" was revisited for graphics and audio after the show found its footing.
But, I don't expect perfection, especially not on this production, and, like you, it will not stop me from enjoying the show.
Even so someone from marketing should be shouting at someone from production for the lost sales of the updated Klingon ship models, I really cant see them selling many of the D7 and Bird of Prey that we saw in the first season.
Ultimately the more the show makes from viewership, advertising and especially merchandising the greater the chances that it will keep going which is in everyone's interests, especially after Star Trek Enterprise sank without leaving a trace even though it was on the air for 4 seasons.
I suspect Discovery will be backed to the bitter end by CBS simply due to it being the big draw for their streaming service, the cancellation of the show would cause the streaming service to take a serious hit to its credibility and potential future.
