USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

It in fact does, one art style is dated, one is currently In trend so does not look dated. Trek tossed the Atomic age style in 79. Sure a homage got used here and there, but the show itself did not use that style after TOS. This was because styles changed. This was also why the uniforms from TMP were ditched after, because it was on trend at the time, a few sci-fi movies had something very much like it. But went out of style fast.
So, if I am following correctly, the production team deciding to go with a more contemporary style this is not "good" or "bad" but a matter of "dated" vs. "not?"

I would love to see ships like this in Discovery.

You will not see that style, but we got something close to the Loknar. The Shepard class looks very close

and the Nimitz looks like a forerunner to the Miranda Class

The Shepard class is by far my favorite non-hero starship design in all of Star Trek. I feel like it's the "light starship" we've been waiting for all our lives.

And the Europa's growing on me too. Assuming it's a much larger vessel, somewhere in the 600m range, it's another missing link that fleshes out the shape of the 23rd century Starfleet IMO.

Well it's too early to say that. Season 2 or beyond could always bring a change. The Shepard class is great. It's the only new Discovery ship design that could fit well into TOS with some nice modifications. Nimitz not so much.

Well, it can be bad, but yeah its dated vs not. There is also a matter of styles matching. You can use modern textures on the TOS designs and they no longer look cheap, but the styling still looks dated and more so when nothing else on the show matches. I mean, look at TOS, if you Put a DSC Klingon in there, it would look off, like a bad photoshop. Because the style clashes.

Not even Kelvin, which had some very, very retro nods, went with that art style, because it does not sell well to most people. You will always have a subgroup of people who will love it, but that does not mean it will work for a broad base. Even among Trek fans, not everyone likes the style. So they went with a modern take to reach larger groups, not just a sub group.

Its a nice design, its not the lightest ship of the ones we have seen the Hoover and the Magee looked tiny. I can not wait for the Egale moss stuff for a better look

Yeah we pretty much can. They are not gonna use the Atomic age styling, that false hope was put paid with the Connie update. The Connie style is the best you are gonna get for that type of style.

That Nimitz class is good looking.

Ok, well, I think I follow but I'm at a point of giving up on it.

We'll see.

Man, this is what people stated with the Enterprise. This was what people ran with with a quote on the Klingons that did not mean what folks wanted it to mean. They simply are not gonna make it look old. They will give homages, the the phasers and the connie update, but its not gonna look like a 1960's TV show with Atomic age styling.

I was not sure on it myself, but the more I see the more I like it.

It has grown on me. You can see the NX linage, which was neat. But I am not sure on the age. I really wish Trek would stop going skippy on ship details lol
I feel a lot of Trek fans get too hung up on linear design which is nothing like the real world is. It makes sense to see design tropes get reinvented over time. Clothing does it, Ships do it, and even modern items used everyday pull from previous designs. The way I see it Trek fans want each design to be a first which is crazy. How many firsts can you really have in terms of design? Makes sense to see "future" designs such as seen in TNG, VOY, etc. be used in earlier ships and uniforms with a different spin on it. After all it would not be far fetched too presume that ships we see now in DSC are why designs crop up again in the future. What comes around goes around as they say.

In trek this got beat into fans though Kitbshing. So many ships are parts and bits of pre made store bought models. So they share set looks and styles of each set era. DSC has stepped away from that, but still kept a bit, such as an NX inspired dish, which is not the same dish just reused, but one kinda like it.

We should have just one ship design and not the kit bashes.

As said above, none of the DSC ships are kitbashes. But some do share design elements and styling.
