USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Interesting. It isn't glowing, though. For all we know the original TOS deflector assembly could have glowed with energy had the ship chosen to use such components but we never saw it. The NX-01 and other NX-class starships of the 22nd century had both a physical deflector dish and a blue glowing assembly directly behind it so if that did glow at some point at least it would fit in with established Starfleet history.

Found this pic on IGN. Looks very nice to me!

I don't think the bottom of the saucer is completely flat, it isn't as deep of a concave as the TOS version, but there is some to it.

Look how the hull panel lines curve

Probably something like the refit.

I hope you're right! I always found that concave to be an interesting feature.

Just so I make sure, are the canonistas suggesting, considering we know the size of Discovery and Shenzhou, that the Constitution class is the smallest ship in the fleet we've seen so far in season one ?

A Constitution patrol Boat? Enterprise the frigate?

also with that image I posted, the panelling appears to be similar to the panelling on TOS-R

Apparently Kirk is just JT Estaban now.

And the TOS writers guide called the Enterprise "the largest and most advanced vessel in space" or words to that effect:sigh:

I can live with them. Based on the saucers, they're a modest size increase over the 50 year-old Enterprise design.

I don't recall the saucer diameter of the NX-01 being quite that big - more like 300-some feet wide.

Yeah, I don't buy the sizes of the Shenzhou and the Discovery for a minute. I like Eaglemoss but, yeah...no.
I'm pretty sure Eaglemoss is not making up these numbers, CBS has provided them. But yes, that pic looks ridiculous. It just doesn't work. If the Connie should be at least the same length as Shenzhou for this to not look daft (regardless of whether that meant making the Connie bigger or DIS ships smaller.)

So what would they have to change in order for you to admit it's a reboot? Female McCoy? Asian Scotty? Romulans with round ears?

Totally change events. Gender swap someone would be a dead give away. But looks are just that, looks that change in TV all the time. Retcons are super common in trek, I mean they do them all the freaking time. Changing the size to something that makes sense isn't a big deal.

Whether canon or not, TOS showed the Constitution class as the front-line, best-of-the-best. "Only twelve like it in the fleet", "He commands not a space ship, but a starship a very special vessel and crew."

The Constitution was the ONLY class of ship we saw in the fleet. There is nothing else to compare it to.

Other then a freighter.
