The Down Under Lounge

Too cloudy here. Just noticed it was lighter, then darker, then lighter.

In other news...

Millions of tiny maggots washed up on Newport and Bilgola beach, in Sydney's Northern Beaches, on Sunday. But climate change is not a thing.

As part of Aust Day, I watched an interesting doco on ABCTV, called ;In The Wake od the May Quuen', about a ship that acted as a hauler/barge/cargo vessel, and is one of the tholdest wooden vessels in the world, its keel laid down in 1867. It's now up on ABC iView. @Miss Chicken you may have well seen this boat, as it's down at the Hobart docks. It's an insight into history I know very little about. Worth it.

I went on a walk around the City today and took a photo of the May Queen.

Cool. You should watch the doco on iView if you can, it was pretty interesting about Tassie history.

Speaking of iView...

Shaun Micallef's Mad As Hell is back on. You should watch. It is really funny and it is sharp! Really sharp! Well worth your time.

During the marriage debate, Barnaby Joyce said he backed traditional marriage. What a hypocrite.

If by traditional marriage, you mean having a mistress and having bastard children, then leaving your spouse for a younger, prettier model, then no, not a hypocrite. ;)

Thankfully, the electorate voted "yes", so Barnaby may be glad he was ineligible to vote in Parliament for that.

And now the Murdoch press is talking about it, well after the by-election in his seat. I wish the ABC had gone in hard on this but it would have been viewed as "left wing bias!!"

The stench coming out it seems to be get worse - a $190k p.a job created specially for the mistress, involvement of a number of senior government members and questions about what the p.m knew.

there's also a meme of the government blaming the ALP for the affair/pregnancy. Wonder if the government will go that far?

I only just discovered this has been going on since 2016, and Joyce has n't been back to his electorate since his win.. This bodes not well.

There is also something else bubbling underneath, about Joyce and a 17 yr old in Mt Isa some years ago.

So what do our resident Aussies think of the current government? I'd love to hear what you have to say about Turnbull and Co.

While we are at it anything govt. related for that matter. What are your thoughts on Barnaby Joyce?

I've collected a few links but I'm not sure what to say other then what most people would say because as per usual he's one of those guys that campaigns about strong family values and blah blah blah.... He's a politician so you know when he opens his pie hole lies come out.

Could this also hurt Turnbull and the LNP?

Sex for favours while still upholding "family values" Ooh boy. This one could be a bit iffy.

And Matthias Cormann as Acting PM.

Barnaby's done, I think. And there's more (and worse) to come out about him.The curious thing is, of course, why the media maintained what can be charitably called "a discreet silence". Too many people have a lot to answer for.

Most Aussies wouldn't give a shit about a pollies sex life (i.e. Kevin Rudd and the stripper bar), but Barnaby waa such a dickhead and hypocrite by constantly being a holy roller and all and butting into other peoples sex lives too the point of hurting other people with some dinosaur views on sex, marriage and family values he couldn't even keep himself.

This is mearly schadenfreude now.
