Incorrect - see prior posts regarding the dialogue. They haven't spoken as father and son in 18 years (since Spock joined Starfleet). However they had at least seen each other 4 years prior to Journey to Babel just only spoke professionally or about nothing personal/their issues.

That's how I took it as well. They've spoken, but the exchanges have been cold and transactional.

I think "Lethe" did an excellent job showing exactly why Sarek opposed Spock's Starfleet enlistment and why it caused such a rift between the two. One of the best S1 episodes.

As long as Sarek's on the Discovery, we probably won't see Spock. They haven't seen each other for 18 years before Babel. If he doesn't leave before the Enterprise does, the show will probably conjure up a reason for Spock not being on the big E right now, I'd say with having him be on a temporary assignment somewhere else.

Agreed. I doubt they will show Spock when Season 2 arrives either. He's such an iconic character in the Trek-verse than when he does appear, the episode must be very special.

I really liked that they named betazed and see a trill! I hope we see Dax and even betazoid! Maybe the new doctor could be a betazoid, new captain andorian and security chief trill

No problem regarding haziness of Journey to Babel - I was under same impression as you until about a dozen posts or so ago. I didn't realize the dialog left it open to interpretation as to how much they have spoken during that time period.

On a previous Discovery:

Lorca: You're the most important being in either the P.U. or the M.U. so even though I could have been emperor, I'll die because well, Georgiou is more important to you than me (sniffle!) and I must die.

**music plays**

On the finale:

Georgiou M.U. I guess I won't shoot you because you're Burnham and Burnham is awesome. But later, girl. Worlds to conquer, you know.

L'Rell: God, I hate humans, minus Vok/Ash, but since you're Burnham and you're fucking awesome for a small human, I'll take your bomb and get my bros to call back their ships so Earth and other places aren't destroyed and you get to be the heroine.

Ash: You're too awesome for me so of course I'll take L'Rell as second choice. Don't tell her she's second. She'll kick my beta ass to Rura Penthe!

Cornwell/Starfleet: Even though you threatened to mutiny again, and fucked up by bringing Georgiou M.U. here, you magically ended the war so me and my Starfleet Admirals bros are gonna give you some ego-boo, medals, your rank back, and we'll let you lecture us all on what genocidal fucktards we were.

Sarek: I'm closer to you than my wife (shh, don't tell her about the magic katra across the miles connection bit) and I agree with Cornwell. We were genocidal maniacs and you were absolutely brilliant solving what 90 gazillion other Starfleeters couldn't solve, some I'm a gonna give you a SMILE! Let's go give Spock the bad news that you're my new favorite child!

**Pike sends distress call**

Pike: That'll get the awesome Burnham here. I'm dying to meet the superstar of two universes!

Spock: Oh God. I think I'll take shore leave to Rura Penthe instead.

End.

Except for Tilly. Tilly, being a cadet, is technically outranked by everyone who's ever raised their right hand ;-)
Well, not now. She's an Ensign. So she's only outranked by nearly everyone on the ship, and in the main cast. :D

You forgot the part where Tilly ate space whale.

Thanks for the correction. I've missed the posts and I admit my memory about Babel is a bit, uhm, muddled.

Yes Lethe did a great job adding to the backstory and making it much more believable as to why there was such a rift (being Sarek was never anti-Starfleet why would he get so mad at Spock).

They've all-but-ruined Ash for me, and he was my second-favourite character. His "reconversion" to Klingon reeked of identification with the aggressor (think Stockholm Syndrome, of a sort) and embittered me to whatever ambiguous fate the writers have intended for him now. Essentially, Burnham's reaction drove him back to the one person he (erroneously) thought could make him whole, even though his memories and affective states were of being raped and tortured. I lay that all at the feet of Michael. Not that she should have welcomed him back with open arms, but she certainly could have used a tad more empathy.

Did you forget the part where he, you know, tried to kill her? As a woman, I can tell you flat out, a man puts his hands on you, you do not take him back. She showed him empathy. She told him flat out, Ive been where you are now. And rebuilding your life is hard, and it’s grueling and it hurts. And it is something you have to do on your own.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy ti am the writers did not get those two back together again.

I wonder if the rumor of a spin off Pike/Enterprise CBS show is true. That would make this series finale hook and potential S2 arc a kind of backdoor pilot scenario.

I really hope not....

I don't want to see an Enterprise series with iconic characters handled by Aaran Harberts and Gretchen Berg, and definitely don't want Kurtzman behind it.

Maybe if talent on par with the Duffer Bros, and the producers of LEGION are behind it, I'd be interested.

Though a Captain April era series in 2245 seems more fun. Less established about that point in time, so more room to explore without disrespecting canon.

Still, In Search Of... could be the title for a whole series. If only we could get the guy who had the pointy ears in that show...or the other guy from the movies who did the young version...

Nah. Nobody would put that out.
Who would watch it? Nerds! You know who doesn't have money? Nerds! Your ideas are insane and you are insane! *slams door*

I thought it was OK. 7/10.

Good character moments, nice atmosphere and world building.

The resolution to the war was iffy for me and was the main reason why it didn't score higher.
