Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x14 - "The War Without, The War Within"

I hate to say it... in fact, it physically hurts, I threw up a litle in my mouth, but.... Axanar did it better.
The whole klingon war story-arc is one BIG clusterfuck of a botched arc. Holy hell.
Forget how it clashes with canon - It's just bad. Like, this is suddenly the most dire war the Federation has ever fought. Closer to the brink of defeat than they were even against the Borg and the Dominion - and the show SKIPPED the whole thing? The most desperate time of the Federation - in the FIRST SEASON no less - and they timejump through the majority of it? What the...?
I don't care for this war. At all. We're missing ALL crucial information. I thought the klingons won? We still have 2/3 of our fleet and 80% of territory! But only one starbase? Where all our leadership is? Instead of, like, the core homeworlds?

Other observations:

• Classify all knowledge of the Mirror Universe? Sure. DESTROY all records? What the fuck?? Forget that Starfleet is a science organization and this is the biggest breakthrough in science at the time - the simple knwoledge of said universe is a tactical advantage of enourmeous dimensions!
• The Tyler/Stamets-scene was campy as fuck I did not for one second believe the emotions of either character
• The klingons so utterly dominating the Federation is stupid - and it makes the entire cold war with the klingons during TOS (and later DS9/TNG etc.) unbelievable, where the Federation was not only a good match to the klingons, but in fact economically superiour. Especially since it's basically lots of entire species against a single one scattered through 24 fractions without clear leadership or a unified war strategy...Yeah, that sounds believable...
  
• The Discovery wants to jump INSIDE the planet of Kronos? Do you even science, bro?
• This show sacrifices all character and internal consitency for the sake of twists. This time - Cpt. Georgiou! :eyeroll:
• Preview for next episode: Klingon night clubs! Yay! Always wanted to see that! ...ugh

Sorry, don't agree. At the start of the Axanar script, the Klingons control 60% of Federation territory, and are making plans to invade Earth; yet BECAUSE of the loss of the one battle at Axanar (where the 1701 was being towed in UNFINISHED by three Vulcan ships to provide some firepower) - and it really wasn't much of a loss as more Kahrn surrendered after Garth beams a photon torpedo onto his Bridge and Karhn decides to 'stand down'. (IE the Klingons still had all the other territorial gains in their posession, and they didn't send there entire Fleet to Axanar. Somehow Kahrn decided to just surrender and talk peace/end the war because he had been out-manuevered (as he saw it) by Garth, the Federation's best.

I thought it was a solid episode. Gave it an “8” because I thought it rebounded nicely from last week’s major disappointment. My only gripe is that I don’t buy that SF would ever allow MU Georgiou to captain a starship, especially one as advanced as DSC. I get that we’re supposed to take that as a sign of how desperate they are, but that’s a real vote of no confidence in Saru, Burnham, Stamets, etcetera.

And Lorca/Isaacs leaves a big hole in this cast IMO. It took Sarek, Cornwell, and MU Georgiou all three to fill that void and I fear what happens when all of those characters are gone.

No, they were wanking over how incredibly earth-shatteringly wonderful Garth of Izar's tactical mind is. The script demonstrates that his amazing tactical plan is... well, no spoilers, but it is hardly worthy of Sun Tzu, lets put it that way. Burnham's weird jumpy spore mapping thing is tactically much more impressive, and that's saying something.

Can’t you beam through shields if you know the modulation? Given that DSC is a Federation ship, wouldn’t the Admiral or her team know what that was?

Again, Discovery's shields were down. It was the Admiral's own ship which had shields up. Saru had given the order, but too late.

So Tyler knows what Georgiou tastes like and Burnham knows what Saru tastes like.

They'd better not have an Alive-style shuttle crash.

It was boring and awkward. Tyler scenes were painful to watch, he is whiny and annoying.

And they get rid of one Terran infiltrator to just knowingly replace him with another. This is just stupid.

To those saying the discovery crew are looking for military targets on qonos and nothing will happen to the planet, on the episode 15 preview something looks to be dropped into the core of the planet and the planet being enveloped in an energy surge. Looks genocidal. That’s what happens when a murderer of billions is allowed to Captain a federation starship. ( DIS plothole no 345).

Issacs will be back. I know they're playing coy with what he said on After Trek but he'll be back. Prime Lorca survived and will find a way to crossover at some point next season.

I wonder what happens to the displaced air in the location they jump to.

If they do it right, a giant dust cloud should shoot out of the nearest cave opening, if only because the ship immediately fires thrusters to keep from crashing as soon as they complete the jump (according the preview, anyway).

Given those show's penchant to not bother showing starships that sidle up to the Disco, though, I doubt they'll show Qo'noS fart.
