Just finished watching, 4/10. Discovery and her Mary Sue crew will beat back the Klingons by destroying quonos ( to hell with continuity), under the captaincy of planet killer Adolf georgiou. Culber with be brought back to life with stamets terraforming genesis device. People giving episodes of DIS 9 and 10 score are easily pleased....

Qo'noS isn't going anywhere. There might be a skirmish or battle on or underneath the planet's surface, but the Klingon Homeworld will still be there after DSC ends and when TOS begins.

And next week if Culber is still dead and Q'onoS is still around will you be here offering mea culpas?

Jesus Christ.
I hate to say it... in fact, it physically hurts, I threw up a litle in my mouth, but.... Axanar did it better.
The whole klingon war story-arc is one BIG clusterfuck of a botched arc. Holy hell.
Forget how it clashes with canon - It's just bad. Like, this is suddenly the most dire war the Federation has ever fought. Closer to the brink of defeat than they were even against the Borg and the Dominion - and the show SKIPPED the whole thing? The most desperate time of the Federation - in the FIRST SEASON no less - and they timejump through the majority of it? What the...?
I don't care for this war. At all. We're missing ALL crucial information. I thought the klingons won? We still have 2/3 of our fleet and 80% of territory! But only one starbase? Where all our leadership is? Instead of, like, the core homeworlds?

Other observations:
  • Classify all knowledge of the Mirror Universe? Sure. DESTROY all records? What the fuck?? Forget that Starfleet is a science organization and this is the biggest breakthrough in science at the time - the simple knwoledge of said universe is a tactical advantage of enourmeous dimensions!
  • The Tyler/Stamets-scene was campy as fuck I did not for one second believe the emotions of either character
  • The klingons so utterly dominating the Federation is stupid - and it makes the entire cold war with the klingons during TOS (and later DS9/TNG etc.) unbelievable, where the Federation was not only a good match to the klingons, but in fact economically superiour. Especially since it's basically lots of entire species against a single one scattered through 24 fractions without clear leadership or a unified war strategy...Yeah, that sounds believable...
  • The Discovery wants to jump INSIDE the planet of Kronos? Do you even science, bro?
  • This show sacrifices all character and internal consitency for the sake of twists. This time - Cpt. Georgiou! :eyeroll:
  • Preview for next episode: Klingon night clubs! Yay! Always wanted to see that! ...ugh

Did plans for Qo´nos reminded somebody else of this?

They will do the scan and get the information they need. Georgio will attempt to blow up the whole plannet but Michael/Saru will stop her and find a way to end they war.

DSC plays fast and loose with continuity but the idea they're going to blow up the Klingon Homeworld when we know it's still there for the next two hundred-plus years is just ludicrous.

Georgiou will try to make a "coup" after they defeated the klingons and Burnham or Saru will have to kill her and save Cornwell, that will make Burnham pardoned and the exploration will begin !

Well, being a Mirror Universe dictator who sees Klingons as a cancer she'll naturally WANT to blow up the planet but they won't let her.

BTW one thing I really hated (and hate in general - looking at you Peter Hamilton and your sci-fi multi-novel series) was the deus ex machina - in this case suddenly being able to grow a shedload of spores out of the blue. Sloppy sloppy writing.

I mostly agree, but I do believe a reason was hinted at by the comments Stamets made that Lorca wanted to keep them prisoner and if there was anytime to grow wild. What I got from that is growing them in an enclosed space slows the growth rate.

Hmm, I doubt it. Paramount hasn't been in a rush to do nice transfers for any of the other Star Trek films.

This is all the info we have (which is very little lol):

This was in June though...an eternity ago.

If Meyer and CBS is working on another tv series, they might want to keep it under wraps considering how things played out after the early announcement of Discovery and all the delays that followed.

I enjoyed the episode overall. There's more I want to comment about, but no time at the moment, so I'll have to come back. Looking forward to the finale to see what happens.

The axanar script was actually pretty bad.

Prelude to Axanar.
It was an awful fanfic and a big vanity project/money scam. But so is Discovery at this point.
At least the Ares-starship looks era-appropriate and isn't a magical deus ex machina plot-device machine. And their laughable amateurish klingon make-up at least let's the actor SPEAK normally. That it comes with hair is just a bonus.
