Actually, if they use one set of rules, it’s what would motivate MU Georgiou to replace PUGeorgiou. As she would never lose her throne, no Buran destruction, no Lorca, no Spore drive etc. Tyler never dies, Voq never dies...yes it resets the whole series, but it ends on a ‘needs of the many’ for Burnham, where all she has experienced this year, positive and negative, never happens. She has to give up her relationship with Tyler to save him and literally everyone else.
Is it cheap reset buttoning an entire series? Probably. If it wasn’t thematically consistent, which it would be...and would have worked in the alleged anthology model.

I just refinished watching the series to date. Other than playing a Terran Empire Captain for about five minutes, running around the ship with Burnham, playing beer pong and being Burnham’s pupil, Tilly has done nothing outside of the realm of being a cadet on a science track: helping with the spore drive, with the tartigrade (which was in conjunction with the spore drive), helping to fix Stamets (which was in conjunction with the spore drive) and helping Burnham with the space whale by using a tricorder (because *gasp* Burnham trusts Tilly). I don’t recall her doing a lot more than that.

Regardless of her age (who gives a fuck?), she’s portrayed as an awkward fourth year cadet who’s good at what she does and dreams of being the best of the best.

I don’t see a problem with Tilly.

Have they always used this much shaky cam? I watched the episode on a different screen than I usually do and it really stood out, particularly during Saru's briefing/planning sess. I just found it really distracting this episode.

Not as bad as NuBSG was, but it is still frustratingly used on occasion during fight scenes to make things look more frenetic and fast-paced. I personally hate it but still seems to be a thing. The Borne series of movies really liked to use it - probably to obfuscate the fact that Matt Damon doesn't know how to fight like Jason Borne should.

I was wondering about that too and I think it was mostly this episode. I don't like shaky cam. Wish it would go away.

The cinema verité look can be effective in certain, emotionally intense scenes but it should never become a standard cinematography method in Trek. You need sea sickness pills after watching some shaky camera scenes in TV shows.

Dickhead?? What an odd choice of epithet. There are characters on the show who fit that word: Stamet and Lorca come to mind. But Tilly? Very random.

Well, ignoring word semantics and Tilly’s intelligence and or attractiveness and or character...

We have to wait till Monday in the UK, and on the plus side, Isaacs can presumably no longer pop spoilers into our twitter feed.

I wonder precisely how much will be wrapped up this week, and whether they will cliff hanger for series two. Do we even know this Disco will be in series two? Will there be another ship in a different era with the same name perhaps? Have they kept the anthology concept after all? We know Isaacs was on for one series, do we know if anyone else had a longer contract?

One thing I did love about this episode - Saru in command. Uniting the crew, feeling confident giving orders - especially his "FIRE!" which is probably the first time we've even heard him raise his voice!
Also I felt giddy as a schoolgirl when they rattled off traditional Treknobabble like warp bubbles and photon torpedoes - it felt like that so-called "OldTrek".

Thank the Maker this one was not the originally planned season finale, eh? We have two bonus episodes to wash the bad taste it seems to have left in some of our mouths.

I wonder if that's how the writers felt as well, knew it was a strong finale but would rub some the wrong way - understood a clean rinse was required to leave the series hanging on a more up beat. We'll see...

So what else about this one might I add... Oh yeah - no salamanders! WIN for the 10!

ETA: I have not noticed excessive shaky cam. It seems perfectly natural, matching what is seen on screen, imo, in a very organic way.
