You make a valid point here... but FWIW, you undercut it with your final sentence. Saying that people are basing a particular critique on assumptions not in evidence from the show itself is perfectly reasonable. Throwing in a cheap shot at "SJW shit," on the other hand, shoots your credibility in the foot. Basically the only people who use the term "SJW" as a pejorative epithet are those comfortable marking themselves as anti-feminist, anti-progressive, and socially conservative... and in a way that's conspicuously dismissive of other views, rather than engaging them. IOW, basically the opposite of the values involved in appreciating Star Trek.
No, it isn't that people who use the term "SJW" as a pejorative ephithet are comfortable marking ourselves as " anti-feminist, anti-progressive, and socially conservative", it is just a case of the "Boy who cried wolf" meme coming home to roost.
We've already learned the hard way, that with the SJW crowd, that there is NOTHING that we can do to win their approval. Just by our mere existence, according to their own declarations, we are inherently racist, sexist, homophobic, and every other single insult that the fascist far Left can throw at us.
For an example from my own life:
My Dad fought in WWII against the real Nazis in Europe, before that he grew up dirt poor as one of nine children on a farm in Oklahoma. Many years after the war when he had married and had kids, he took us to sign up for baseball at a city operated league. The kids were all there, and the coaches would pick ones for their teams. After a while, my dad noticed that not a single coach picked a black kid to be on their team. Then the guy who headed the league declared that the team selection was now over.
"Wait a minute!", my dad told him, "There are still children who have not been placed on a team."
With a malevolent smirk, the Commissioner said, "Well, it doesn't look like there's a coach for them, so its' over."
"They've got a coach now!" my dad responded, and he formed a team with just my brothers and all of the black kids that had been discriminated against. A number of the kids were so poor, they didn't have baseball gloves or other equipment, so my dad took them all to the store and bought them what they needed.
And he worked them hard, he pushed them to their limits, kinda like Lorca. He told them up front: "You are angry at how you've been treated, and you should be. But being angry isn't enough. We need to teach them a lesson. We need to show them that you not only deserve to be on a team, but that you are the best of the best!"
They won the league championship.
Even into his eighties, my dad would still get phone calls from some of those guys that he had coached when they were only ten years old, but now had their own children and in some cases even grandchildren. They all wanted to talk to "coach", their lifelong friend who had stood up for them when no one else would.
And in the final year of my dad's life, I had to watch as SJWs shouted at him that he was a "Nazi" and a "racist", just because he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat. They told him that he needed to shut up and "check your priviledge".
So all of you far Left hatemongers can fuck off, to be blunt. I already know that the moderation here is far Left, and pretty much in line with the bastards who shouted those things at my dad.
A big reason why Trump won is precisely because of the Leftwing intolerance that is manifested in the SJW movement and the bias displayed at places like this. We are tired of the hateful lies being thrown at us every day. We are tired of the cultural Marxism that ignores MLK's injunction to judge people by the content of their character but instead focuses entirely on dividing people by race, sexual orientation, etc.
So no, we don't use the term "SJW" because we are "racist" or any of your other insults, we use it because the SJWs are real and they need to be utterly defeated. They are a hate-group that are threatening our very democracy and basic rights like freedom of speech.
