I know the mirror Universe is suppose to be identical, but Discovery doesn’t sound like a very empirey name

Here's the emperor. What? Too 'on the nose'? :rommie:

To be clear - that wasn't intended to crap on Mary Weisman - quite the contrary, as I'd probably have a blast partying with her. My thoughts were really motivated by my dislike of the Tilly character.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think of her being self-aware enough in this episode to basically pull a "Have you met me?" when Lorca told her not to talk too much, but to keep it short and (un)sweet? Also, what about when she used the fact that she knows she comes off as annoying and Stamets is irritated by her as a means to try to rouse him?

I love the character and her understanding her flaws makes me love her more!

Oh man, next week is going to be great.

Andorians! Sarek with a mirror universe beard! Spaced out Stamets holding dead Hugh in his arms!

Can it be next Sunday now?

I got the impression that that was a trailer for the entire second part of the season, not just the next episode. Not that I wouldn't mind if next week had that much stuff packed into it.

I can appreciate that you seem to like the character. Unfortunately for me, not so much. I would like her a tad bit more if she was blown out an airlock (Tilly the character - not Mary Weisman)

Although I like the episode a lot, I only rated it an eight out of ten, which seems low compared to most everyone else.

What I liked: The direction was superb, as were the visuals. This was one of the first episodes where I felt like there wasn't anything wonky which made me go "huh?" while watching it. The actors all put on their "A game" as well. And there was some much appreciated humor in the middle portion of the episode. I also liked that the episode flowed as an ensemble number, and it was no longer the "Micheal Burnham show." Basically everyone but Saru was given a role with some weight in this episode.

What I disliked: The episode was, on the whole, way too predictable for me. We found out we were in the Mirror Universe. Ash=Voq was basically totally confirmed, and seems to have been done in a pretty straighforward manner. And it was heavily hinted that Lorca actually came from the Mirror Universe himself (albeit it seems like Mirror Lorca was potentially a "good guy"). Really only Culber getting his neck snapped and the Defiant references were unexpected (the latter was much appreciated fanwank). Also, I am still getting no chemistry from Burnham/Tyler.

As an aside, I noticed in the teaser for next week that mirror Klingons are also bald. So one of my pet theories apparently bites the dust.
