Cool. It's ok, my discussion with you made me re-watched the Stargate episode Brief Candle and I quite enjoyed it. It's been a long time.

I never noticed if he was usually the one inputting the destination when they were engaging the spore drive. I always assumed that navigation and helm would have done it, not the captain. What does that mean, though? Was it just him programming in the starbase location? It just doesn't make sense right now.
I took it to mean that he is a colossal asshole and is in fear of losing his only coping mechanism so he said ciao.
from Wikipedia (but good enough for this purpose)
Similar law in Canada, if I recall correctly. US law differs.
But that's nonsensical. He can't just run away from Starfleet with a crew of 200 forever. .
I totally disagree. Lorca's first course of action was to return to Starbase via standard Warp Drive. He had no guarantee that Stamets would offer to do a jump.

Kor
Not disagreeing. Just pointing out why some people would not default to the term rape (IIRC cultcross works in some law enforcement capacity).Though I'm one to love conversations revolving around specific definitions,
we aren't in a court, and this is a future society, not ours. I think most of us know that the definition of these things are changing with the times, and though the laws may be backwards, most people know better and most of us know what this means.
if Ash and L'Rell were to go back in time and he were to press charges, I get it
but it's still a fictional future. I for one would call that rape.
He sure as hell can try
You're making a rational point, which makes a lot of sense.
I don't think Lorca is thinking rationally.
We don't entirely know how L'Rell's Klingon Naughty Bits work. For all I know Paris was all about B'lanna's ovipostor. Not disagreeing. Just pointing out why some people would not default to the term rape (IIRC cultcross works in some law enforcement capacity).
I know...I know...
It's like I just said to Kor. I must admit that the flip side of this is I could be letting my love the character taint my perceptions.
I guess this is one of the fun aspects of the show...that we are in position to debate this kind of stuff!

I love the show as it was until now I do not want any exploration shit in unknown places for that already exists voyager !! I want to continue with the plot of the war against the Klingons!
At least we're beyond arguing with so many over whether the show is good or not,
debating all this nerd stuff is the fun part. Makes me feel 20 years younger,
When they go warp 5 those stars are flying by a heck of a lot faster than warp speed in other treks
I'm four minutes in and Lorca's characterization is completely different (and much more likable) than he's been all season. Where the hell has this guy been?
