Considering that DSC is a hit, what are the odds that TV execs will willngly go away from what they considier a winning formula? I wouldn't mind seeing something different from DSC, but thinking that we'll get that might be giving the suits more credit than they deserve.Something set way after Nemesis, and potentially moving the franchise into a completely new direction. The Titans project maybe?
Whatever they do, please lord, no more Riker. Probably my least favorite character in all of Trek. He had one good moment in TNG, when he told off Jerricho. But that was it. 22Riker is an old man. His days in the hot seat are ovah.
When has a TV show's renewal not been about money, ultimately? There are shows that get renewed for various reasons with ratings that would get most shows cancelled, but these instances are few and far between. And even when it happens, the true motivation is always ...money.Interesting in that a lot of the market is Neflix (overseas) and that is a tool (creates the budget for further production) to encourage US audiences to join access. Least that is how I'm interpreting it.
The decision is purely money as it's the bottom line. Until the next number crunching exercise![]()
I thought The Get Down got 2 seasons. The second one though, was only 6 episodes. I didn't know about the $16 mil per episode. Any idea why the cost was so high? No Fx, mostly shot on NYC streets. The Get Down was canceled by Netflix after one season...probably because it ended up costing $16 million per episode.
Well, most of this stuff is still made available that way - isn't it? I just meant that it's probably not seen as a major revenue stream in the out-years.
Above the line costs were huge. Producers were getting $$$. Also the show has loads of visual effects to make it look like a period piece, you perhaps just didn't notice. Also it was shot on location, which is expensive too.I thought The Get Down got 2 seasons. The second one though, was only 6 episodes. I didn't know about the $16 mil per episode. It's my first streaming service too. Figures I'd pick the faulty one. I do have Netflix now so I'll see how good they are in comparison.
Netflix is a hell of a lot better right now. Although I haven't had any issues with CBS All Access, it is clunkier and less sexy than the Netflix interface. I guess it's the age bracket.![]()
Yeah, now that you mention it, I do seem to recall the the thing about the chapters. I did notice how much the locations looked like the '70's but it didn't occur to me that that was so expensive. Was hoping you wouldn't say that the producers were getting so much cash. Oh well, the first chapter was pretty interesting.Above the line costs were huge. Producers were getting $$$. It was one season that was split into two parts, then cancelled. FYI I was on the Netflix consumer panel that decided to cancel it.
There will be a huge cry of rage from Orville fans.
Marf?Well Orville fans excuse for a season 2 is that PBS put too many eggs on one basket, not because discovery is popular. The alt right is really rooting for Orville to be more successful than discovery.
Well Klingons in discovery are portray as Trump and his supporters. So they hate it and are banking on Orville which is produce by the trump supporting Fox to win over Discovery. Kind of ironic and Seth can’t do anything about it even if he notice it.

Lmao that Seth MacFarlane produces and stars in the Alt Right's favourite new show.
