Why not? If you don't enjoy them, then don't watch. But don't wish for it not to be made because other people do want to see one.

I spent 12 years wanting another TV show set in the Prime Universe, and now it's here, I find the prospect of a follow-up to Beyond more to my liking. I'm a living breathing cautionary tale about being careful what you wish for...

Honestly, why would you care if more are made? Don’t like them? Don’t watch them. Or watch and feel free to complain (you are entitled to your opinion, of course). But why actively root against something so many people would like to see?
If I had to guess, it's because having another Kelvinverse movie takes money and resources away that could be used for the kind of Trek movie Relayer1 would rather see.
I thought this after I posted.
I've no desire to stop anyone's enjoyment. What motivated me was, as something of a completist, I'm fed up of paying to see films and buying Blurays (often more than once depending on the various 'versions' and extras) for films I'm not wild about.
I know no-one holds a gun to my head to make me buy, but...I'd rather my collection was now complete. Or will be when Beyond gets cheap enough to warrant it's asking price.
Hmm, not quite. I've seen all the Trek movies when they came out. TMP and WOK are favourites. I haven't liked the TNG movies either despite being a fan of the show.
I'd be happy with more Trek on the T.V though...

The Chris Hemsworth reprising Heorge Kirk rumor, increasing popularity of Zoe Saldana and Chris Pine, and then the subsequent tragic death of Anton Yelchin (he was super talented and truly sad he died) led me to believe that the 4the movie was going to be in some way about closing the Kelvin Timeline altogether and feeding back into the Prime timeline. Sort of like a Generations film that led us back to the moment Spock red moleculed himself back to the early 23rd century. I have no idea if a fourth will happen now. I find it unlikely. But despite my feelings that the Kelvin movies arent that great (the cast was fantastic, it was more the JJ Abrams lack of Trekspertise that bothered me) I do feel that it deserves. a proper conclusion.

I don’t see why there shouldn’t be a 4th film.
ST 09 was a huge domestic hit. Into Darkness made more money (worldwide) and the international market started to take notice.
There were several issues with Beyond. First it wasn't promoted well at all. ST’s 50th Anniversary was totally and completely wasted...Secondly it was given a very difficult release date in between blockbusters. It wasn't given the time it needed to breathe. In my opinion it wasn’t a great film (I know a lot of people here loved it, but the general public gave it a collective yawn) which didn’t help.
When you consider that Paramount doesn’t really have a lot of viable franchises and the fact that ST was on the rise before the box office failure of Beyond, I think the series is viable enough to give it another shot, maybe at with a reduced budget which may not be a bad thing. We could do with a few less explosions in ST 4

Then the next question is, can a Trek movie be profitable in this day and age?
Two out of three of the recent ones were (and the third was projected to after home release, digital sales and TV rights were factored in). They just weren't on the level of a Marvel superhero team-up movie or Star Wars, which is what Paramount were hoping for.
But then, I think every movie anyone releases wants that level of success.
Return of the Jedi hasn't made a profit.
Hell, I loved Beyond, and I still refuse to buy it until they release a feature-complete version. I hate the splitting of features across multiple releases.
Check Wal-Mart, guys. I've seen different copies of Beyond.
It's not star wars' fault. This trek had potential but it got wasted and they lost track of it, while stuff that was even possibly inspired by JJ trek's success is flourishing now. Paramount&co seem to not even know what they wanted their own thing to be, and they do an extremely poor job with promotion and creating hype.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Discovery? It's been a hit in itself so right now tieh ball's ion CBS' court?
JJ is more of a Warsie than a Trekkie but he produced 3 great films. It's been great revisiting the classic era in a new way. Would they want to close the Kelvin Universe and revive the Prime though?

I never thought, and the reboot proved it to me, that these movies necessarily mean trek fans. Sometimes having someone like JJ (who doesn't hate trek, he just isn't obsessed about tos) is for the better.
Personally, I think he did a better job with trek than star wars, and in part that's because with trek he had a bit more creative control. Star wars is...you are only hired to make the movie they want you to make and the way they want it to get made. They fired writers and directors in the middle of the work because of creative differences. I think the approach of the studio is completely different compared to the trek reboot movies.
I'm honestly surprised JJ accepted to direct star wars again, especially if under the same conditions. I really hope it isn't a hint there won't be a fourth trek movie.
