Domination by humans over Klingons in hand to hand combat

Star trek has long established the Klingons as a warrior race, savage, efficient, brutal warriors who can take out anyone. A Klingon warrior is the toughest and baddest dude in the universe.

But.

Spoiler: Spoilers for Discovery

Whenever they take on a human, they get beasted. Whether it be Picard, Archer, Kirk, Lorca, Sisko, they will be slaughtered. So it seems to me that humans are the warrior race and the Klingons are a bunch of wusses.

Yes obviously you get at what Im saying here. It would be the end of the show if our heroes were killed by Klingons in battle.

But seriously. Cmon now.

Last night was no exception as Lorca and his new buddy brutalized two Klingons to death who were even armed in a prison camp and then escaped

I guess a bit of realism and consistency would be cool once in a while.

The Klingons cant run with us..

In way of the warrior, dax did well (fair enough, well trained in Klingon martial arts), worf did well (which is very unrealistic, he always gets beat up), and Sisko did well. Kira held her own mostly until the end then got stabbed, presumably fighting cardassians makes you tough enough. The rest all ended up in a pile.

I think its STIII where Kruge lifts Kirk effortlessly, and where all our preconceptions about superior Klingon strength comes from.

Maybe he was just ultra hench among Klingons.

Klingons aren't poor in combat, they just aren't strong enough to pierce the main character protection bubble. Every time humans tangle with Klingons, all the non-main characters die and the main characters stand triumphant.

It would have to be this, as no character ever suggests Klingons would be particularly strong. They have "warrior fierceness", but strength? Not mentioned.

That's sort of explicit in the very scenes - his antics with the worms impress his own Klingon crew!

Maybe Klingons are a warrior race, unbeatable in battle... againts each other, when it comes to other species, they're not that good.

Their reputation as warriors maybe based on the fights among themselves but when someone else comes along, that's a different story.

Gror says: WE ARE KLINGONS! WARRIORS! LEDENDARY IN BATTLE! but... don't tell anyone else, please?

It's more like the best of Starfleet vs the medicore of the Klingon Empire.

With some exceptions, most Klingons seem to rely on brute strength rather than skill. It's only the noble houses that seem to give their families any training.

Considering how much Worf gets beat up, it's a wonder that anyone on the Ent-D thought it was a good idea to sign up for his Klingon martial arts classes!

Perhaps,like a lot of big guys,the Klingons rely on their size and brute strength to carry them through any fight.Klingons never want for arrogance.
Maybe a smaller weaker opponent (with training in the martial arts)might prevail against them.
TBH,I’ve always hated how physically weak humans are portrayed in Trek.There are many martial cultures on Earth that would clean any Klingons clock.

Wasn't that a stretching/yoga class?

I think it come down to in-universe the Klingons (with few exceptions) simply aren't particularly strong in comparison to most humanoids.

Yes a trained soldier would be able to defeat a untrained civilian, but Starfleet (sorry) are soldiers in all but name.
