And yet you seem to think that some TNG homage show on another network poses some sort of threat to the franchise, so you just contradicted your own point, as poorly constructed as it was to begin with. And yet here we are 51 years later.

It was stated above exactly how. Low-brow humor.

There is nothing demeaning in that. It just isn't for everyone. It was stated above exactly how. Low-brow humor.
You're the one trying to tell people their opinions are not welcome here or are considered "borderline trolling" just because they happen to have the user name and avatar of the captain of The Orville, so don't try and flip it around and play the victim all of a sudden. You're the one who has now derailed us into a mutli-page tangent about the Orville being an attack on Trek out of the blue.Well I'm so glad that my opinion is now BS and other people's opinions are better. Thanks!
With a series, to me, is disappointing so far and has failed to capture any of my imagination so far. No other iteration of Trek has done that, which is even more alarming. My parents turned the channel part way into the pilot of DSC, and they've watched every version of Trek since 1966.And yet here we are 51 years later.
You said The Orville demeans Star Trek, as in it causes people to lose respect for it. That was the threat it posed to the 51 year old franchise, a loss of dignity and respect. Which is ridiculous.Where did I imply it was a threat? I never said that. I just said that the guy's post was trollish. Now you're making things up.
Star Trek must never be satirized or mocked in any way. Treating the holy franchise in a humorous and irreverent manner is pure and utter sacrilege.
Trek must be approached with grovelling on bent knees with heads bowed in sheer awe, and accorded the utmost dignity and deferential respect at all times.
All hail the saintly crews of Starships Enterprise, Voyager, Discovery and that altar of all celestial goodness, the Ninth Station in Deep Space...Don't piss off Saint Gene!
Can I get an LLAP?Star Trek must never be satirized or mocked in any way. Treating the holy franchise in a humorous and irreverent manner is pure and utter sacrilege.

No, actually you were, and again, as a non-mod, it's not your place to publicly accuse anyone of trolling, sarcastically or not. Especially when the accusation is pure nonsense. If you have a problem with someone's post, notify on it. Though I will tell you right now, there was nothing trolling or troublesome about his post, so it would have been rejected. All I did was sarcastically point out that the guy might be trolling. I wasn't the one who took it and ran.
TWOK's shenanigans bugged me too.I love Roddenberry but my issues with him can be summarized by all the shade he threw on The Undiscovered Country's script before he died.
And yay, though Saint Gene had his flaws, I implore you: give, give him a break!

He was a dying old man at that point. I tend to cut him some slack there.
