Let's talk about the elephant in the room, this series violates Roddenberry's vision big time

Heck, it was Roddenberry who gave us rogue Starfleet captain Ron Tracy and deranged ex-girlfriend Janice Lester, in "The Omega Glory" and "Turnabout Intruder," respectively. Both scripted by Roddenberry himself.

My view of Roddenberry's vision is we should be like Bruce Lee and take the good while leaving the bad. Like the fact he didn't think women could be starship captains (but did think they could be 1st officers--so...progress?)

Sure. It's just that I really wouldn't want either of those two to be main characters of the show.

I'd actually rather have the traumatized undiagnosed PTSD Burnham in charge of my ship than Janeway.

"Let's ally with the Borg. Let's see how that works."
Let's kill the torch bearer and then purposely mutiny against my Captain and later watch her get killed.

Yeah that's better.. All the makings of a fine leader there.

I think that's part of my problem with her, this particular trope has been beaten to death on Trek.

Star Trek has taken beating dead horses to whole new levels at times. I don't care for Burnham either, she was a horribly written character in the first two episodes (not the actress's fault, mind you). The third episode she was slightly improved, she did smile once. Maybe twice. But her actions (plot wise) weren't nearly as insanely absurd and inconsistent like they were in the first two episodes.

Have you never read about great leaders and the mistakes they've made?
Thank you for protecting this most sacred of items. Hopefully, it is in a hermetically sealed room, like the kilogram.
She'll get a commendation for original thinking when all is said and done. That's how Starfleet rolls.
She should have been promoted to Admiral. Duh ;)
I actually think "had a nervous breakdown because of childhood trauma and panicked" is what happened.
I tend to think this as well.

Clearly, the mind scrambler wasn't invented yet ;)
