Spoilers Lucifer - Season 3

JD

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
I'll have to wait to watch this, since my local station lost audio for the first part. There was a text crawl recommending watching with the closed captioning on until they fixed it, but I might as well just catch it On Demand later.

I'm continuing to enjoy the show. My only gripe with the premiere was that it never occurred to Lucifer to try out his devil-face again with Chloe not around.

I assume they are implying that this Sinnerman has taken over the devil role from Lucifer. If true (and not a misdirection): I wonder what he/she did to get the job.

I did wonder if it was because she was there, but not thinking of it and him making it all about Dad crapping on him really fits his egocentric nature. I was wondering how he got all sunburned without Chloe around, shouldn't he have been invulnerable at that point?

I'm wondering if its another escaped critter from Hell or someone that's come into another divine object?

It was a fun episode and I loved the bit where the hotel guy thought Chloe and Lucifer were a prank because she was the girl from the Hot Tub movies and 'Lucifer'.

Wouldn't it have been just as easy to show her the wings? I guess maybe he didn't know they grew back at that point, but forget the timeline. Worst case, nothing preventing him from showing her now. The 'devil' angle will be tough to prove, but 'fallen angel' should be an easy sell, and since Lucifer is/was known that way too, should make his point...

How long do they drag that part out?

Yeah, I hope they don't drag it out for to much longer, these kind of stories with a character keeping this big secret from another one get a bit annoying after a while. At least this one isn't as bad, since he's not actually hiding his real identity from her, she just doesn't believe him.

Yeah, that bugged me and my mom too. I was trying to remember, have we ever seen him change his face while Chloe was nearby.

I hadn't thought of that, but it is an interesting idea.

Hasn't he shown his face to suspects and then immediately stopped when Chloe entered the room?

Yeah, and Chloe saw it in a reflection but likely thought it was just the ill lighting after the fact. And of course, because she did shoot him.

OK, thanks. So I guess he did actually lose the ability to change then.

Maybe, hopefully the writers remember that scene and don't put it down to Chloe being around preventing him from changing. It should occur to him to try without her near, though. If Amenadiel is right about Lucifer being forgiven and the crispy being healed maybe it will enhance his mojo for fighting the Sinnerman?

I think the show is getting sillier, or at least Ella is. I can buy her naming a dead squirrel Leo and making a shoebox coffin for him, but the bit where she thought Leo was knocking on the lid was just silly.

Also, Tom Welling's character is a very caricatured jerk, and it's hard to see why Ella would be such an admirer of such a creep. Although Welling is certainly more convincing as a pompous jerk than he ever was as a superhero.

Anyway, I like it that Neil Gaiman and the other creators of the source comic are now getting an above-the-line credit, and an amusingly long one in fine print. It's well overdue.

Yes, that was after he cut them off and before he discovered they'd grown back.

I wonder if even though he was willing to show her his devil face, he's still too ashamed or embarassed to show her his wings.

He accepts the devil face as part of his true self, but he doesn't perceive the wings as really being a part of who he is (since he's so willing to cut them off), so he may feel no inclination to show those wings to Chloe. Showing her the wings wouldn't be showing her his true self.

I liked the season premiere. The "Sinnerman" seems like he (it?) could be an interesting enemy. I'm also intrigued by what's happening with Lucifer's wings. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that Welling's character is a bit too muc of standard a jerk character. I hope he either tones it down or just gets some kind of development before too long. He could be either a good character or an annoying character depending on what they do with him.

Still, overall it was a solid season premiere.

Well, we could follow her.
Apart from Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith, Maze might be little seen at the season's outset because the actress had a baby recently. Between maternity leave and getting back in shape for the role, they may use Leslie a bit light at the outset.
