So when does Peter Weller show up?

We don't know much about Papa Marcus Prime. He could have easy been just as warmongery. (Since there's no evidence that Kelvin universe is anything like the Mirror.)
And he seems like the perfect guy to be Lorca's boss.

There's something to be said for gradually fleshing out characters but they should at least be introduced early on.
Here the only character we know is Burnham, who got a great intro for most of the first ep before that was all undermined in a way that still doesn't make sense to me.
But certainly we should know more about the people than we do after three eps.
Seriously, if people are so hell bent on it being too different from regular star trek....ds9 still holds the crown. Takes place on a fricken cardasian space station where Starfleet is working with a foreign militia. If you took the capsule description of discovery and ds9 and put them side by side, which would sound closer to the "classic trek" we imagine? (General question, not directed at you)

I actually want to know more of Lorca's background. Was he saying his family were bakers? Pastry chefs? Cooks? It's official, every bad ass captain has a family that cooks. Cough sisko cough lol
The DS9 pilot literally put humans where humans have ever been before.
So far all Discovery has done is put humans in a war (a place most humans have been before) and in a magic fairy dust box than the audience knows is never going to work.

This message board is a tiny, little corner of the net. Any polls on here among this peanut gallery are hardly a measure of anything conclusive.
That and it's a tv show. I love to make fun of a tv trope as much as the next guy but come on...at some point it's just intentionally knit picky.
Yeah it's pretty silly to complain about fans being divided when you fundamentally change the franchise into a war drama. Of course many (or most) fans who liked the previous shows won't be too happy about that. But I think a lot of us are willing to give this a chance. But even as a war drama it has some serious issues. Waaaay too much emphasis is being placed on Michael. She's a good character, but we don't need to be reminded of her skill with quantum physics, programming, biotechnology, and martial arts every 5 minutes. She got sentenced to life in prison and is now going on away missions and personally saving everyone's life one episode later. The constant validation and ego stroking just makes no sense if they're trying to convince us that she's fallen from grace.
I think he gets diverted in the prime timeline into being a docent at the John Frederick Paxton museum. He's a decent docent, a bit dreamy, but the word is that his daughter is pretty smart. She's definitely going places. Bit odd, that affected British accent but she'll probably lose it as she starts working.
Sometimes people tell Marcus that there's a resemblance between him and old man Paxton as he gives tours. He can't see it, himself, but he has to admit, that man had some good ideas.

It's not CBS AA's issue, at least not entirely. I've watched it now on both Roku and PS4, and both were in 1080 HD, and I had no lag or issues streaming.

Yeah I think it matches Star Charts a bit, I can spot a Mempa, Qo'noS and Archanis sectors, and they're roughly the same position as in the book.
