David Gerrold was not invited to the premiere. Seems unhappy about it.

and don't forget Gerrald is still invovled in a current ongoing lawsuit involving Star Trek over a Dr. Suess/Star Trek mashup. Even beyond axanar I doubt you would invite somebody there is an active lawsuit against.

That was very poor decisioning on his part. The Dr. Seuss estate if pretty litigious on its own, but then to have Star Trek involved. Yikes!

Um... You're a Trek fan, and you don't know who David Gerrold is?
If he's primarily a TNG era fan, why would that surprise you? TOS - Trouble With Tribbles is the only Episode David Gerrold ever wrote.

Hell, we have a poster who's very active on this BBS that wrote two TNG scripts - Dennis Bailey (aka Serveaux). The episodes were TNG - Tin Man and TNG - First Contact (again , the TV episode NOT the film). He posts all over this BBS nearly daily,

He also didn't get an invite - but you don't see him going on Facebook/Twitter or this BBS and whining about it. (I think he likes The Orville better atm anyway; but who knows how he'll feel after Sunday? ;))

Whoa, I had no idea! That's very cool! I also did not know who David Gerrold was, but I am actually not versed in trivia on the production side.

Same here! I always notice his posts because I think its super funny his avatar is of Tom Servo and his name is Serveaux. I am often amused by funny avatar/handle pairings, like EMH and using pixelart from Doctor Who.

Yet your user name is the title of an episode lol

I like the Name and have a thing for the Mirror universe. To be honest, I did not recall this was the name of the TOS episode until after.

Good name's a good name. :D

Agreed

True, I tend to recall avatars more than names.

Ooh, you're going to forget me pretty quickly, then. I change my avatar often. :D

She also wasn't happy with the way GR rewrote the "Encounter At Farpoint" TNG pilot script. She didn't do any further work for/with GR or TNG after that either.

Fontana continued working as an associate producer for twelve episodes of TNG. She has story and/or teleplay credit on four episodes after the premiere. She did have a falling out with Roddenberry, though, and left the series.

Based on the list of B-stars who attended, I'm going to amend my speculation on the invite list. Shatner and Nichols were paid to attend, and the rest were invitees. Those who weren't there chose to not attend (not worth their time).

^^^
Damn - and here I thought you were just an obsessive fan of Walt Disney's Snow White...
(Oh yea, I guess your TrekBBS Avatar ISN'T of a Dagger through a Poisoned Apple -- my bad. :nyah::whistle:;))

I do rather like Fairy Tales. I am an all around geek with many interests lol

Fair enough. I tend to rarely change one.

One notable episode is more than most people will ever achieve.

That's true. What's tacky is to surf on your laurels for 50 years and, on top of that, come across as a perennial crank on social networks. The only guy I know who can pull off the perennial crank act is Harlan Ellison, because as bitter as he may be, he expresses it with a wit and flourish which Gerrold lacks. Kind of ironic considering that Gerrold is known for writing a comedy episode...
