David Gerrold was not invited to the premiere. Seems unhappy about it.

There's only so many people who can be at a premiere. If you think about the number of people who have been involved in Trek, even limiting it to big players, that's a big guest list, and you haven't even started on the show you're actually premiering.
Sure. But my point was that it seems to me like Wheaton would be the kind of person they'd want on top of the list.

Hell, they could even have a throw-away line in his next BBT appearance about how Sheldon is still mad at him for not taking him to the premier.

I used to be a big fan of David Gerrold's, but the whole Axanar debacle changed that. I am not at all surprised that someone who would openly advocate the stealing of CBS' property, e.g. Star Trek, in order to support a group who wished to build their own studio, and make a profit from that studio, would be ignored when it comes to the list of who is and is not invited to a showing of a new Star Trek series. He should not be at all surprised.

Yet they left off David Mack who wrote the novel and helped the writing team.
That one could have been an honest oversight. Then again, tie-in authors don't really get the respect they deserve from the higher ups, at least I don't think so.

You'd think that Kirsten Beyer would be the first one to go "um guys, we're missing someone".
Good point. Still, I doubt there was any malice in it when it comes to David Mack.

Edit: Wait a minute, am I in the Discovery forum? Argh! I was going to wait until after the premiere!

Ah hell with it. I'm already here.

Tis an eclectic group, no doubt. There was the couple responsible for the write in campaign that helped bring star trek back as well as Bill Nye. So kind of all over the place

Wasn't Fontana pretty critical of Sybok back in the day? Anyone know her thoughts on Burnham's place in Spock's family?
She also wasn't happy with the way GR rewrote the "Encounter At Farpoint" TNG pilot script. She didn't do any further work for/with GR or TNG after that either.

If Mack was helping them out, he should have been there. Beyer should have made noise to make it happen. Or the EP's.
Maybe he already saw the actual Pilot episode in a private screening (It's been done for quite some time, and they might have screened it for him so he could get a sense of how the characters are to better write the novel?); and thus they figured "He's seen it..."

He definitely did have complete access to and read the script (maybe several scripts.)

But my point - he's not really a 'big media name' and as others mentioned, there is limited seating.
