Well it will be easy to know if that's true or not.

If the original story does a sudden 180 mid season then we know they backpedaled and re-wrote things for the episode they hadn't yet shot. If the story is all inclusive from the first episode with no obvious additions then we know they intended that all along and were just horrible at marketing.
So you're backpedaling on the idea they're backpedaling,

So, it's exactly what I thought it was?
Yep - a lot of us believed this was the case, because it's the only thing that made sense "in-universe". This means these Klingons predate the Augment virus by around a century if they were this isolated for so long. They are also probably the purest of all pureblood Klingons, which is why they continue to strive for that racial purity, causing some consternation with the rest of the Empire which has allowed itself (in their eyes) to be influenced too much by outside forces and using the smooth-head Klingons as evidential scapegoats to support their agenda.

There wasn't any of that bullshit that conspiracy theorists spewed about changing the Klingon look just for the sake of change, or just for the sake of intentionally pissing off the fans and their notions of continuity and canon. Of course, now there are all the obvious allegations of "studio backpedalling" coming out because some people can never admit how absurdly wrong they were about all of it all along. It was just the studio holding back certain bits of information in favor of misdirection to maintain the mystery of the show. They played the wall-eyed fans like Stradivariuses (Stradivarii?) and must have been laughing their collective asses off at the ubiquitous and inevitable nerd rage that resulted. :klingon::guffaw:

Thank God we can now put all that nonsense to rest and just enjoy the fucking show!

In fact, I've been holding off on voting on the original poll attached to the thread because I really wasn't too sure if I liked the new Klingons yet or not. In light of this new information, I finally voted "Yes".

I've really been enjoying the detail of the sarcophagus ship, curious to see what a regular DSC Klingon ship looks like inside and out (and what their 'LCARS' looks like!)

Did you make this poster? It's great!
Somehow I get more of a sense of the ship's "Klingon-ness" from this angle.

I wonder how they would react if their ship gets attacked and some of the coffins break off.

They’ve said the Klingon high council is made up of the 24 most powerful great houses. That fact comes from the encyclopedia not any of the shows.

So I wonder if they’re referencing that book as well
Yes that book and pretty much every Trek reference book is in the writers room. I mentioned an obscure TAS species and Ted Sullivan didn't even blink. They know their stuff! But also remember there are 'suits' who don't know Star Trek from Star Wars and you have to pick your battles.

I did thanks! It was NOT easy (and shadows are your friend - your mind fills in details that aren't there!) I am not sure how accurate it will be against the real thing, but its an amalgamation of all the different concept art and views from the trailers. I tweaked the length of the warp nacelles and the size of the forward hull to make the proportions seem closer to the trailer. It's a bit hard to do because of perspective.

Just to wrap my head around how it might look in 3-D space I kind of imagined the body and where the neck connects as sort of a drill and bit (albeit a super ornate one) .

This new information sounds really cool. The more I hear about the show's version of the Klingons the more intrigued I become.

The in universe portrayal of a planet with billions of sentient beings and only one culture was a lot to swallow be it Klingons, Vulcans or Romulans. Only Earth was seen as diverse, ok every human is a fantasy version of North American culture but you get what I mean. So if these Klingons represent a totally different part of Klingon culture, all I can say is some attempt at world/empire building is being done at last!

If this bald and overly ornamental design is just for this sect of Klingons, then it is absolutely fine. Though I really can't say I like the idea of a huge 200 year old supership. Sounds very 40Kish rather than Star Trekish.
But, 100 year old starships are ok? Because, the USS Republic is referred to as functioning in TNG era, and that was the ship that Kirk did his apprentice cruise on.

Exactly.

Hope you don't mind, GeekFilter, but I couldn't resist... Wonder if something like this is underneath?

Yeah I thought about that especially after they mentioned the coffins on the outside. The shape certainly isn't as dramatically different as some seem to think it. Good visualization!

Finally: Why 'Star Trek Discovery' Klingons Look So Different:

I hope this is true and not just misinformation.
Have not read it at all but all they had to say is 'these Klingons are as diverse as humans are'.
Different topic - Another thing Humans do not speak 'Earth' or 'Terra' or even 'Sol' so I don't see why alien languages are named after their planet.

Klingons speak tlhIngan Hol, which is sometimes called Klingonaase, but I think that's what off-worlders call it. I guess I always figured off-worlders called languages by the names of that world. "I don't speak human," said the Bolian.
