They’ve said the Klingon high council is made up of the 24 most powerful great houses. That fact comes from the encyclopedia not any of the shows.

So I wonder if they’re referencing that book as well

If i remember things right, Krenn was a member of House 24 in The Final Reflection.

I don't recall the houses being numbered in that book. Although, admittedly, it's been about 20 years since last I read it, so...

Is the implication there that these Klingons may somehow be inspired by Ford's work? If so, then color me intrigued.

They have said The Last Reflection served some inspiration.

Even the game klin zha is said to appear some way in the show.

Mike Ford fleshed out the details of Klingon houses in the FASA Klingon Intelligence Briefing sourcebook. It was developed concurrent to The Final Reflection, IIRC. Each house has a name and symbol.

The names the Klingon Intelligence Briefing gave from the 24 are:

    Drexa
    Reshtarc
    Simparri
Subiesh (a crest very similar to whose appears on the bridge of the D-7 in "Unexpected")
    Urussig
    Dok'Marr
    Hurric
    Jurris
    Limmrii
    Pallara
    Solazarn

It's great that apparently many elements from The Final Reflection will be canonized. I love this book even if i'm mainly a fan of Tng, DS9 and the first 8 movies.

Wonder if we now get Thought Admirals, Lines and other elements, too.

How compatible are the Final Reflection Klingons to the Klingon Culture known from earlier installations? Imo it will be very difficult to merge both versions of Klingon Culture into a coherent new.

With the way they appear to be treating the different houses in DSC, I could see some of them being closer to the TNG+ Klingons, and some being more influenced by TOS and The Final Reflection.

I sold dozens of my Trek novels to focus on new and general SF years ago. I recently picked up The Wounded Sky, one of my old favorites. Also, plan on re-reading Greg Bear's Corona. But mainly with Trek novels I will focus on post-2017 DSC novels from now on.

How many ship classes are we seeing here? I count 3, some people tell me 5. Remember, Eaglemoss has revealed Discovery has 30 ship classes they are making.

Trekcore.com reports Klingons 200 years old and in an ancient ship, per Ted Sullivan. I'm too tired from the gym to post the link. Go look lazy people. :)
