I thought the concepts were great, both warp 10 and the circular evolutionary tract, but the mode in which they chose to explore the concept was too remedial and concrete for my tastes... and a little too slimy.
I liked Persistence of Vision .. it had a menacing tone to it.Watched Alliances last night and thought it was quite good. It's up there with Persistence of Vision for me...
This. There was so much to like about that episode.. the ending just got away from them.Honestly I think Threshold has good moments. The whole Warp 10 concept was interesting to me.
Ah, that makes sense imo. The makeup effects were easily the most memorable part of the ep for me.Rather ironic that "THRESHOLD" got the series an Emmy. For makeup effects, if memory serves me.
I really like both episodes.I watched The Thaw and Tuvix last night. The former was not fantastic, but I quite liked some of the ideas presented and creepy clowns are always, well, creepy. Michael McKean was excellent as the main clown, but he was even better in the X-Files episode Dreamtime... and I, henceforth, will now refer to this Voyager ep as "Killer Klowns From Outer Space".
Tuvix was also pretty cool and I thought the finale sequence was fairly powerful, particularly Janeway's visual strife in the closing shot. That just felt so genuine to me; what a difficult decision that would be to make, but I agree with what happened. There were a couple of little things I didn't care for in this ep, but it was solid overall imo.
I'm almost finished with season 2 and I am really looking forward to starting season 3. I see there is a cliffhanger on the horizon as well.![]()
Not to mention that the character looks and sounds a bit like Bruce Dickinson
"Tuvix" is a great episode which still brings up debates on this forum. Definitely one of the best Voyager episodes.
And just look forward to the cliffhanger "Basics". Another great Voyager episode!
I agree with you about Janeway's decision.Well, if another debate gets started up about Tuvix, then I'll join in. I felt pretty strongly that Janeway made the correct decision, but clearly there are no easy answers for that one.
I'm excited for Basics... love cliffhangers as season finales and I really enjoyed this season overall.
There are a lot of things to like about Season Two - although the same could be said about every season.Well, if another debate gets started up about Tuvix, then I'll join in. I felt pretty strongly that Janeway made the correct decision, but clearly there are no easy answers for that one.
I'm excited for Basics... love cliffhangers as season finales and I really enjoyed this season overall.
Well, I'll get back to you on Basics, but I did watch Resolutions last night and liked it, but didn't love it.As well as RESOLUTIONS - that's a beautiful one, esp. if someone is a J/C fan.
Since English is not my mother tongue (and before joining these fora I had no idea what a story arc was), it has been only by reading posts on the Internet that I deduced the meaning of "story arc". People seemed to refer to the Seska-Jonas-Tom stuff as the only story arc on VOY so I automatically picked that up, attributed a kind of meaning to the expression in my mind and have used it since then.Well I would strongly disagree about that being the only arc. It was an obvious one yes, but there are many other arcs over the course of the show (unless your definition of arc involves back to back episodes)
So what was it about the ending you didn't like? You wanted Voyager not to find them?Well, I'll get back to you on Basics, but I did watch Resolutions last night and liked it, but didn't love it.
Even though I'm female I normally don't go in for the "shipping" stuff (I think that's the term? maybe it doesn't apply here), although I do appreciate some of the romantic tension between the 2 characters (and Chakotay is HOT, ha ha). I had kind of mixed feelings about this ep for a few reasons, some having to do with the way the episode ended. It left me feeling a little ... frustrated. Anyway, on my loose ranking of the season I'd put Resolutions midpack somewhere, maybe at the bottom of the top third or so in a ranked list.
I just didn't find it to be the most convincing of endings, is all. They were doing a pretty good job of "playing house" and, when they received unexpected word from Tuvok, it was as if they suddenly reverted to their former roles without so much as taking a deep breath. I didn't find it to be a very genuine response (actually it was more a lack of any sort of visible response at all), especially since the actors had previously shown some subtle/nuanced emotions towards each other in other scenes and episodes. So what was it about the ending you didn't like? You wanted Voyager not to find them?
Well, it seems there is not a general agreement on what is considered an arc. Some people think the episdoes need to be back to back and some don't. For me, an arc is story lines that continue through multiple episodes regardless of whether or not they are back to backSince English is not my mother tongue (and before joining these fora I had no idea what a story arc was), it has been only by reading posts on the Internet that I deduced the meaning of "story arc". People seemed to refer to the Seska-Jonas-Tom stuff as the only story arc on VOY so I automatically picked that up, attributed a kind of meaning to the expression in my mind and have used it since then.
Maybe I was wrong.
What would a good definition be for a "story arc" then - and what else is understood by this expression in terms of VOY?
I really do find it amusing how just beacause something was personally not to your liking you think it was done intentionally to anger you. There were never any arc or "development" about Kes "going over to the dark side".
Just one s**t episode which the producers made to p*** off the fans who had the audacity to want the character back.![]()
Laugh if you want to. I'm just happy to spread some joy into your life.I really do find it amusing how just beacause something was personally not to your liking you think it was done intentionally to anger you.![]()
