Voyager season 2

There are worse and more needless technobabble in some other episodes.

I agree, I suppose the radiation-of-the-week tipped it over the edge for me, hot on the heals of Projections (which also had radiation-of-the-week)

Death Wish (2x18)
Tuvix (2x24)
The Thaw (2x23)

Prototype (2x13)
Dreadnought (2x17)
Basics part 1 (2x26)

-> I really liked 6 on 26 episodes ... , not much, right but well... And you can notice that each of them treated of serious issues.

I enjoyed these episodes as well.

Death Wish, well I always love Q episodes and this one dealt with an interesting issue about suicide.

Prototype was overall interesting but was hurt by the cheesy looking robots. The concept was interesting though, and the twist with the robots destroying their creaters was good, though not entirely unique in the world of sci fi.

Dreadnought I love, (yeah it's a B'Elanna episode). There are a couple of little things that I really liked, the banter with B'Elanna and Tom...was it me or was there already a flirtation...and the bit where she calls Harry "Starfleet". I always did wonder though, if they needed a warp core breach to stop the bomb, why couldn't they use a shuttle? But I can see how for a tv show the drama of the sacrifice of Voyager works better.

Basics I enjoy because I always enjoyed Seska. Her appearing again was great. In my head canon after Basics, Janeway gives Tom a commendation for saving them and the ship almost by himself.

The episode where the Doctor falls in love had me in tears. . . . . . The episode where Paris and Janeway turn in to Salamanders had me vomiting.

Was it Paris coughing his tongue out, or something else? ;)
"Threshold" is a terrible episode. But not as bad as some episodes in the later seasons.
In fact, "Threshold" is actually funny if you consider the whole episode as a nightmare Janeway had after eating too much of Neelix's food.

The best season of all Star Trek seasons!

All episodes are great, except for "Threshold" and that episode is at least funny if you see it as some nightmare Janeway had after eating too much of Neelix's food.

Threshold was OUTRAGEOUS the thought of Janeway and Tom mating as Lizards make me go ewww. I understood the whole de-evolving idea, but overall it seemed a bit contrived and daft to say the least.

I'm on my first complete Voyager watch-through too and finished season 2 a few days ago. I think it was only slightly better than season 1. There were a few standout episodes like The Meld, Tuvix, and most of all, one of my overall favourite Trek episodes: Death Wish. But just like in season 1, there was a lot of mediocrity, and some stinkers like Non Sequitur, Threshold, and--unpopular opinion--my personal low point of the season: The Thaw.

I think the salamander thing was actually Threshold's redeeming feature, it's so bizarre that it makes me laugh only thinking about it. And of course how they're suddenly back to normal because the Doctor fixed their genes or something. Completely bonkers. They should have topped it off with Janeway doing a Tasha reference and telling Tom "I'll only say this once: it never happened". Certainly memorable, for whatever that's worth.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the other seasons as well since this is your first watch of the series. IMHO season 2 was a definite improvement on 1. Season 3 was even better yet and, after that, every season was better than the last for me until I got to 6, but I still liked 6 substantially more than 1 and 2.
Threshold was, er, "distinguished", that's for sure. It's far from my favorite, but it was pretty off-the-cuff. And that Naked Now quote rehash would have been apt, for sure.

Season 2 was definitely the best! :techman:
The best of all Star Trek seasons.
Voyager's seasons 1 and 3 were great too, season 1 somewhat better than season 3.
I don't care that much for seasons 4-7, except for a few episodes. Something important was missing in those seasons.
