Should we get 24th century movie/mini-series to bring closure to that era of Trek?

Nah, we got that movie in Nemesis, and we got series finales like "All Good Things...," "What You Leave Behind," and "Endgame." Plenty of series finales that wrapped it all up in a neat little package and adorned with a bow. Anything else would be talking over the end credits.

The prime purpose (in my view) for the Romulans is as a opponent and a foil for the Federation, what purpose would be served by them joining the Federation?

If a event were to happen (not the nova) and the Empire were to subdivide into multiple factions, that I would find interesting.

Yeah, Nemesis was pretty bad (although I thought its farewell to Data was actually OK) but between it, WYLB and "Endgame" the characters, plotlines and era overall probably have gotten enough closure (and some open-ended elements are OK). I don't need to see Picard or Riker & Troi or Worf's final missions and a lot of the cool crossover elements would have probably already happened before Nemesis. And a big new plotline for DS9 or Voyager would feel anticlimactic after overarching plotlines lasted years on the series.

I agree with alot of the reasons listed here as to why a post NEM series wouldn't be viable now, among them being: The time that's elapsed and the age of the actor's and actresses, The cost of recreating set's and the heavy SFX for the show (Even if it's a mini-series), the fact that ANY script written will probably not appease all the fans, AND THERE WOULD BE COMPLAINTS from enough fans who would make it seem like fandom at large hated it, small minorities of trolls and their ilk are quite skilled at making their voices drown out the majority.

Honestly, I'd love a limited run series under TNG banner. Sign up Stewart (and Delancie!) and tell a cracking story to cap off the 24th Century era.

My inner fanboy wants a grand mini-series focusing on the Enterprise, Voyager, Defiant, and Titan fighting Empress Sela's army of Narada-type ships and finally ending with the Romulans reunifying with the Vulcans, and closing with a shot of all four ships warping into the sunset, closing out the 24th century. But it's a completely unrealistic idea that would never happen as it would be quite expensive and only appeal to a tiny audience.

I really don't see why Nemesis/film X didn't include more crossover elements, I would think at least including more of the DS9 Klingons and exploring their situation and also having Seven would have been pretty appealing (and of course opening the possibility for more films with the later casts).

I agree with people who feel it is time to move on from those shows and that era but am I the only who would like to see something done that sends it out with respect? "TOS" got "Undiscovered Country" and TNG,DS9,Voyager got nothing. "Nemesis" was a bad film and really feels like a bad way to go out on. I would love to see something that used a lot of the more popular characters and used a story that felt like a big love letter to the hardcore fans. I think it would help a lot of fans to be able to move onto a new show that is no longer apart of the franchise we have been following for a very long time.

A show or movie set in the 2390s with a mix of new people and TNG/DS9/VOY vets could be interesting. Anything well written and well acted that could make money and be successful would be welcome for no matter the cast, timeline or era. I wouldn't pitch as a dead end fairwell, or as one last installment of a long gone era. This would be a good way to bring the Enterprise F into live action film or TV. It's captain and crew would be at the center of this. I think that immediately makes it something easier to sell. So even with a storyline that pulls together several characters from the past shows in cameo, recurring or guest starring roles, it should be a forward thinking project to bring Trek to the dawn of the 25th Century.

True, but bigger than that is one of the prime purposes of Trek itself - embracing the enemy. The Xindi were a bigger threat than the Romulans ever were, and they joined the Federation.

I'm more interested in this aspect of Trek than the geopolitical bunkum. I admit though that this is a personal preference

The problem is, Nemesis was the closure for the 24th century. You may not like it, or even hate it. But in the end, it still was that closure. So I doubt the studios are going to bother pumping millions and millions into a fanservice event that is never going to repay itself.

Nah, let's all just move on and get stuff that's new and exciting instead of being stuck in something that's now over.

I would love a send off but its about a decade too late. Its a shame really as they keep doing TOS retreads while the real heart, soul, and bones of trek was TNG/VOY/DS9.

For a time I think you can say it was. Those shows owned the 90's when it came to Trek. RIght now I think Trek is kind of blank slate with the popularity spread out among all the shows, with maybe the Kelvin Universe movies with a slight lead in terms of modern fans. A perfect time to basically reinvent Trek because none of the old shows have the same power they use to.

That would be great. Or even just a Picard-focused movie with a bit of time travel thrown in there, exploring his academy days as well as his ultimate retirement, with a last mission to save someone/something...

There was such a movie -- it was called "All Good Things", and really should have been the send-off of the TNG cast. I really wish the TNG movies hadn't happened.

I think the cast and crew of TNG would take any opportunity to go aboard the Enterprise.

That's how I feel. Also we are talking about a tv movie or mini series and not a bigscreen summer movie so the risks of doing it seems very minimal. If it fails it wouldn't set the franchise back or anything because the franchise is no longer relaying on Berman era Trek to make most of it's money.
