I have decided to go through your post, because it literally includes
every clich'e somebody who has never watched TOS would think about TOS base upon it's parodies:
Yeah I watched it and he was a rogue,
Again: During the series he wasn't a rogue. That's a TOS-movie invention. Shatner-Kirk was as dutyful an officer as an army-veteran and police officer (Rodenberry) would envision.
fly by night cowboy who did as he wanted,
Again: no. He was
super by-the-books. Even in "For the wirld is hollow and I have touched the sky", he has a thoughtfull discussion with Spock why it's okay to violate the prime directive to save the people on the asteroid -because she doesn't apply-
this time.
Again: no. He met woman, but
if he did so, it was a genuine affection. Think about
Edith Keeler, the woman he loved, that he wasn't able to save. There are some instances where he willfully seduced alien woman to save his live (for example the green haired gladiator chick). But even then he came clear afterwards and tried to comfort her. And he didn't even bang her before that. Just kissed her, and created an emotional connection. Quite the opposite. He
NEVER just "banged a chick" and then left.
and fought near all the time
Agin wrong. He fought quite often. Almost once an episode. But almost all of the time he fought to
end the fight, not to
win. That's why the few counter examples - like "Balance of Terror" - leave such a big mark. Because he was
so against fighting, the stakes were infinitely higher when it became apparent to
even Kirk, that he
HAS to fight in those occasions.
and got a hell a lot of redshirts killed.
Okay, no complaints here.
This is trek, its script bile calls it an action show and demands weekly action.
THis is a science fiction show. In the 60s. What else should they have called it? A
drama? They'd get laughed out of the room.
JJ is just following what came 50 years before.
Yeah. THis is the part that is debatable.
Visually definitely. But
content-wise, the JJ-Abrams movies are IMO much closer to ENT.
I have watched it man. I just see it for what it is and what its creator called it and not what we want it to be.
And
this is were you are clearly wrong. Watch it again. Memory is a tricky thing, especially when countless parodies and pop-culture want to convince you from something different
