Then they weren't canon. "They're canon, except when they're not", makes no sense.
It did make sense, actually, and George tried to avoid contradicting or overriding things unless it was absolutely necessary to do so.

Lets just say that they weren't considered outright blasphemy before Disney took over, they are now. They were never canon to begin with.
Actually, Diana turns up in both, meaning they take place in the same universe somehow. They cancelled it before they revealed how.
Then why recreate the character entirely?
That's...stupid.

Not proof at all as the Kelvin timeline is virtually unknown to us where as TOS is! The Klingons and UFOP had a bad start in the beginning but apart from the odd skirmish or raid on planets near the border they never went to war in the original timeline! If they had of done then why were Kirk and Spock so shocked in Errand of Mercy at their guessing that negotiations had broken down? Even if you don't accept this then we can agree to disagree!

Agree to disagree then. Admiral Marcus states that war "is coming" whereas in Discovery war is already engaged, with thousands of casualties. And Into Darkness is at least five to ten years after when Discovery is set.
As others have said, not the same character, but same actress. Marc Singer also appeared in the finale, but as Lars Tremont, not as Mike Donovan. Same thing.Actually, Diana turns up in both, meaning they take place in the same universe somehow. They cancelled it before they revealed how.

Really kind of wished that show went on. It started getting interesting, especially as they began introducing members of the original cast.
