But it could be from ant trek.
You mean from JJTrek the antiTrek

Maybe, but there will almost certainly be a time travel plot sometime in the show. They might as well use it to escape continuity.I have a hard time believing they're planning on doing anything that involves “changing history” or “alternative timelines”. But oh well, we will see.
Calling Scott and Uhura "major characters" at that point of the series is a bit of stretch.Of course thinking back to The Naked Time it's remarkable how many of the major characters we DIDN'T find anything out about: McCoy, Scotty, and Uhura
They don't need to escape continuity. They can simply ignore it.Maybe, but there will almost certainly be a time travel plot sometime in the show. They might as well use it to escape continuity.

I'll be honest... every time I look at the forum I'm tempted to change this thread's title to "Kelvin timeline not confirmed at all".

Nope meant any, JJ's version is pure up modern TOS. Sure its less silly and bit less campy but its pure up TOS
I would actually heavily disagree here. The JJ-movies look almost exactly like TOS, from the colours to production design aesthetics, just modernized. But they actually don't feel a lot like them. If you happen to rewatch an old TOS-episode
Yeah we are gonna disagree because I get none of that. TOS was a pure up action adventure show, with death and a fight in pretty much every show. I don't think the reboots look too much like them at all, but they are written just like them. You could have put beyond in TOS and no would would have noticed.
Which makes a tiny amount of sense, considering the one directly followed the other. That's why I see it's quite obvious the JJ-movies aesthetics inspired DIS to a degree: Those simply were the last Trek products on screen. That's always going to be the biggest influence on the next follow-up incarnation.
You clearly haven't watched TOS recently. You'd be surprised how little action and how much speeches and discussion is in there
Really, there's seldom an episode with more than one single action scene on a runtime of ~50 minutes, but there are quite a few who don't have an action scene at all.
Edit: Also, everyone in TOS was really a by-the-books officer. The whole "rogue resisting his superious" - which is one of the main narratives of the JJmovies - was pretty much an invention of the TOS-movies. Not the series.
That makes sense. And it was logical when the productions where following in a linear timeline from TOS-Movies-TNG-DS9-VOY. But when the productions stopped following the linear timeline is when the problems started, after VOY-ENT-JJ-DSC.
Yeah I watched it and he was a rogue, fly by night cowboy who did as he wanted, banged alot of chicks and fought near all the time and got a hell a lot of redshirts killed. This is trek, its script bile calls it an action show and demands weekly action.
JJ is just following what came 50 years before.
