The uniform colors seem to be gold (command), silver (science) and bronze (security/engineering). I love it.

What the hell are you even talking about? You are comparing six (!) years of an actor's performance with a few seconds? Really?

I didn't get an ENT vibe at all, it's one of the things I liked best. The stuffed shirt safety first Trek of the nineties/noughties this was not. Much closer in style to the JJ films with a touch more seriousness perhaps.

If it is just the costumes / ship design bothering you, these may only be ceremonial. They appear to be dropping off an actual sarcophagus in a ritual burial in space so regular Klingon's may still feature in the future.

To me it always seemed the acting in the Star Trek series tended to be somewhat loose. TOS was fine for his time, particularly Nimoy and Kelley. TNG got better along the way, although Stewart got the character early and Spiner evolved favourably. DS9 and VOY were a setback to me, although Robinson, Alaimon and Picardo did their jobs fine. Of ENT, better not to speak ...

It was the Klingon look over all. If this is ten years before Star Trek, these Klingons look drastically different than anything we've seen before and that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Drastically different? How so? Ridge on forehead, metal effect battle armour, dark skin. They look instantly recognisable as Klingons to me.

The Netflix trailer seems to be shorter then the CBS US version, but still looks good.

The whole smooth v bumpy forehead thing went on for years, I'm sure if any new difference needs to be explained, it will be.

No, it's not about smooth vs. bumpy. It's the overall look. Take a Klingon from any other series and look at the klingons here and it's really really different. Yes I anticipated updating to 2017 production, but these guys look nothing like Klingons.

Huh? I get no such vibe. I get modern 2017 Trek show vibe.

I got that, I'm just saying it isn't the first time their look has been completely revamped.

I was feeling the JJ vibe too at first, but to assume that this series takes place in the Kelvin timeline because of some aesthetic similarities and some lens flares just seems silly.

We can backwards logic this, because the Kelvin itself which originates from the Prime timeline also had JJ aesthetics. So whatever anyone may feel, JJ aesthetics can have a place in the Prime timeline because they already exist there :P

As for real world reasoning? Star Trek needed a visual update and JJ did a pretty nice job of it. It's only natural that subsequent productions (prime or not) would follow his groundwork. Although a little dark, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the look of Discovery. I can't wait until the actual ship Discovery is revealed and proves to be ultimately sexy despite its goofy shape. I mean, the Enterprise-D did the same for a lot of us, did it not?

Well, to be fair; on ENT (in the "In A Mirror Darkly" episodes) the ship from the other Universe WAS the U.S. S. Defiant - which had appeared in the TOS episode "The Tholian Web". Given this were they ever to show a Bridge shot of the 1701 under command of Captain Christopher Pike - I would expect they would try to recreate the look of that particular Bridge set from TOS - "The Cage". But here in this promo, it's a ship (and ship class) we've not seen before - BUT the Saucer and the Deflector Dish look like the ship is in the same design liuniage as the NX-01 Enterprise.

Sonequa Martin-Green seems about as unengaging as she was on TWD. Though maybe at least here she has a "raised by Vulcans" excuse?

Andrew Robinson, is, IMHO, the best actor to have ever been in Star Trek. Period. His portrayal of Garak was a masterpiece of acting and should've won Emmys. Marc Alaimo's Dukat wasn't far behind.

What I want to know is, when will Vaughn Armstrong appear in DSC? Because we all know he will. ;)

Agree entirely. She sinks the whole trailer for me, although Michelle Yeoh's not much better.
