I just had to say it

A place to just say it. Things we love, things we hate, things we noticed or that bother us - with no need or expectation of a reply.
I dislike the redesigned uniforms that the male cast members started wearing in Season 3 after "Booby Trap". The original form fitting redesign was fine but the baggy tapered version never looked right and watching the Picard maneuver to unwrinkle his uniform every 5 minutes was silly.

Every minute Marina's onscreen I think how much more beautiful she is without those horrid black contacts. What a dumb thing to do to her.

Nothing makes me laugh harder than Brent Spiner talking about how after a decade of wearing yellow contacts, when they made the Data action figure, they made them blue lol

I think the idea was to make a substantial percentage of the crew look alien, at one level or another. At the top of that spectrum was Dorn, then Spiner, then Burton, & then even Sirtis. It may have been a bit daft, but I think we can all agree that it was the least imposition of any cast member, short of the Humans. I imagine those tight unforgiving uniforms they had on her were more of an inconvenience

How did Deanna's nipples get past the censors!!

Or is that just an unfortunate crease?

Where's George Lucas and the gaffer tape when you need it?

Hugo -

The uniforms are a bit ridiculous to me but if I have to choose, I'd rather go for those ones as well.

I just had to say as well, why are only the women wearing tights anyway?? that's not fair! men must show theirs legs too!! that's what equality is all about isn't it?

You mean in Man of The People? Nope, I'm pretty sure that's some pokies happening, but hey... they openly showed her cameltoe on more than one occasion too lol

If the women have to wear spandex so should the men. :)

If you want to see something awkward, Data, Worf & O'Brien all wear the season 1 onesies in the season 7 finale, for the scenes in the past

Dorn still wears it well, but I remember thinking "Yeah, Spiner & Meaney are not flattering themselves here". Interestingly enough though, Sirtis somehow looks BETTER than she did in the season 1 skant. I think they tailored it better. Hers & Crosby's kind of looked like potato sacks in the pilot

I agree about Spiner but I thought Stewart looked great in first season space suit for "All Good Things". The guy was in his 50s then, decades younger than Spiner and Frakes, and he still looked fit in form fitting spandex.

Stewart didn't seem to age in the entire run of the show. You're talking about a guy who had almost no noticeable change in physicality in the nearly 20 years between Dune & Nemesis. The man is an anatomical anomaly

The physical appearance is overrated nowadays; it's a pity we can't measure someone's intellect the same way we judge his/hers looks, isn't it?
.
The not-so-good-looking/ not-so-good-shaped is the new sexy in that century mate! oh, wait! except for the women! :wtf:

I wish Gates McFaddon didn't have to wear that wig in seasons 1 through 7. Her natural hair is much thicker, prettier, and almost the same color already, albeit a little darker

Everyone has different tastes. I prefer it.

The real reason they changed it of course, was that the actors were so uncomfortable in the old ones.

I remember not noticing much as a kid, but now I can barely look at those poor people squeezed into those things. Maybe the later look was a little less esthetically pleasing, but it was by far more realistic. I actually wish that they'd have let the whole cast adopt the shirt & jacket look that Picard gravitated to. It had some versatility to it too

A looser two piece uniform needed a major design change to look right, the black sides and triangle didn't look good on a baggy and tapered top. Something like this would have worked better in my opinion.

"Yeah... maybe when I'm on the bridge, I'm not there to be someone's therapist. I'm the ship's relations advisor & cultural attaché".

And after a while, maybe she'd bring an extra uniform to her counselor's office so she could slip it on when the situation called for it. Even a uniform jacket slipped on over her casual wear would be better than wearing all casual clothes on the bridge.

Marina worked out/dieted and lost weight during the series run and was in better shape by the end than at the beginning. I remember various interviews of the day in which she mentioned it. This is what got her into a standard uniform in the later seasons too - after Jericho ordered it, she kept the look because they all realized it looked good on her new body.
