And Worf is security chief. He would face palm, but he gets his fingers caught in the grooves.

Apart from the pilot, just about the entirety of Season 1 of TNG is unnecessary.
Enterprise-D is the ugliest Enterprise, second only to the B Enterprise. The Enterprise-C and E, however, are awesome.

Actually you know what? The Galaxy-class in general is the worst Starfleet big ship, whether it comes to combat or exploration. Children's daycare/school/having children aboard what is effectively a battlecruiser at all? And all the other stuff on board - is this a science vessel, a warship, or a cruise liner? All that wasted room that could be used for research stations, or more dakka.

I re-watched the first two seasons of TNG (out of boredom)... and I just couldn't stomach it. Troy was absolutely terrible. Data was a joke (he was smug and very human in many episodes). The directing, writing, and acting had serious problems. For me, Star Trek The Next Generation begins with Season 3. There were a few decent episodes earlier on, and I absolutely appreciate how this first reboot of the franchise needed some time to find its footing. And if this is what was necessary to achieve the 3rd season and beyond, so be it. But I've no desire to re-watch these older episodes ever again... except for a few from season 2.

A Matter of Honor was a great episode, so was Q Who.

There's a few good episodes in the first two seasons. Heart of Glory, The Big Goodbye, Datalore, and A Matter of Honor to name a few. Naked Now is awkwardly fun, knowing the rest of their story, and let's not forget freaking Q Who.

Yep, there are definitely a few in Season 2... but unfortunately a minority within the season. You did list some good ones.

Where Silence has lease is one of my favs from S2. I also liked The Royale, Elementary Dear Data, A Matter of Honor, Q-Who, Measure of a Man, Contagion, Peak Performance, and The Emissary.

One thing I miss from the First two seasons is the sense of dread and wonder from Where No One..., Q-Who, and Where Silence... and others. I think it has a lot to do with the creepy music that disappeared after Season 2. Contagious also has this vibe.

Photobucket ruined the photo link. Click HERE for the original on TrekCore.
Interesting how they didn't give Worf his original makeup... instead he looks like "modern Worf" here.

Modern Worf with a haircut. Couldn't escape that bit of continuity error. Apparently the whole reason the forehead piece was different after season one, to begin with, was that it got lost or stolen or something, so even if they'd tried to make a whole new one for the finale, that mimicked the pilot one, it likely wouldn't have been a perfect match, & would've been painstaking to even try. It's probably for the best, the S1 forehead was higher & wider at the top & made his head look like a wrinkly egg

Even if they did have it, I'll bet that they wouldn't even bother. Worf's exposure in the earlier time wasn't long enough for them to switch makeup. Much cheaper to leave as-is. And most people wouldn't even notice... only the diehard fans. ;)

It was enough to fool my young mind into thinking he really time traveled. They get bonus points for being smart enough to not put Riker back in the spandex.

I've been doing a bit of a rewatch of TNG for the first time in about 10 years. It's amazing to me how much screen time Troi gets. Outside of Picard and Data does any other character get as much face time as she does? It really is inexplicable since the writers couldn't write her in an interesting way 99% of the time and that Marina Sirtis was one of the weaker actors on the show.

I'm really hating her character. Her lines are just so damn pointless and are poorly delivered to boot. And she is in so many scenes. This is a character that should have been an occasional appearance when the story called for an empath and that's it.

Odd. When I cam to rewatch TNG I realised what a good actress Marina is...she holds an accent that’s unnatural to her, makes you believe in various relationships, and always seems basically belivable. I can’t think of any instance of particularly bad acting. Your complaint seems more with writing and character as developed.
    The acting is fine though.
