    CBS just added three new actors to the cast of Star Trek: Discovery:

    Terry Serpico will play Admiral Anderson. Maulik Pancholy will play Dr. Nambue, the Chief Medical Officer of the Starship Shenzhou. Sam Vartholomeos will play Ensign Connor, a Junior Officer assigned to the Starship Shenzhou.

    Looks like the Shenzhou has been fleshed out some.

    I'm gonna go on Facebook and start a rumor that there is no U.S.S. Discovery in the show - it's misdirection altogether, and the show's actually about Shenzhou (which is really not called Shenzhou, either). "Discovery" is being used in a more general sense, harkening back to the first Trek spinoff, TNG, which also did not feature the name of the ship in its title.

    Consider:

    • We have a fully fleshed out cast for Shenzhou, but nothing on Discovery;
    • We have a handful of casting announcements for the cast who will play Klingons on another ship, but no one on Discovery;
    • Martin-Green's character has been described by one Walking Dead producer as a "lieutenant commander on a Constitution-class ship;"
    • The very early release of images of this alleged "Discovery," which appeared to be very rough, quickly assembled and simplistic CG of a variation on an old design that's been documented all over the place for decades. Just some hastily whipped-up "evidence" to support their cover story.
    In a few weeks we'll be seeing the first leaked sketches of an updated and completely reimagined Constitution class vessel, the actual setting of the new show. It's Enterprise, commanded by Captain Christine Pike.

    I'm going to make up an account name - something stupid like "Ferd Porthos" - and claim mysterious contacts in Toronto. Heads will explode.

    USS Shenzhou and a Klingon ship are searching from an experimental starship, the USS Discovery - from an older period of time. Perhaps an early Cloaking Device which Starfleet wants to cover up, and the Klingons want to improve their own designs?

    Just voicing a thought that popped in my head reading the ideas above

    Terry Serpico was in Army Wives, so it doesn't surprise me for the casting choice, he looks like an admiral. Maulik Pancholy has some decent television history (ex. Weeds), it will be interesting to see how he works the role, and Sam Vartholomeos was in a couple of movies, but boy one look at him and you know he's playing an ensign.

    Overall, not many faces i am familier with myself, but it will be interesting to see how they work on the show either way.

    Is it just me, or does anyone else want to see Hugo Weaving guest star on an episode and interact a lot with Admiral Anderson.

    "You hear that, Admiral Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability."

    "Admiral Anderson, you disappoint me."

    ... Just me then? Okie.

    Do you think may have changed as a result of Fuller leaving? Or cbs demanding change forcing him to opt out?

    My wife was an Army Wives fan so I know Terry Serpico. Kinda looks like Anthony Michael Hall in some pics.

    All throughout college I had people call me Mr Anderson, and I thought it was odd. It wasn't until after I actually watched the Matrix, that I finally got it.

    I have my own theory (aka. own imagination / fantasy). The USS Discovery were sent to investigate an anomaly in the neutral zone. They found an ancient Klingon burial ship that has been considered lost for long time by the Klingon. Then, they're vanished. A mysterious / unexplained lost contact situation that need an urgent answer.

    So Star Fleet send USS Shenzhou (and maybe a Constitution class starship) to investigate it.

    Meanwhile, the rumor of re-appearing of the ancient Klingon burial ship spark the interest of several Klingon. These klingon has very ambitious political agenda. They want to re-united all the Klingon house. So they need an ancient relic in order to do so. The re-appearing of an old Klingon burial ship give them a reason to make an expedition to the neutral zone

    If the main protagonist lieutenant commander aboard a constitution class starship, then there is a great deal of chance that the ship will destroyed, and the walking dead actress move to USS Discovery with the survivor, then the story will be focused on the Discovery.

    If we're gonna deal with theories, I don't know how it would fit, but that bridge display I've seen in their January teaser reminded me of USS Relatvity and Tcars. I have no idea if that has to do with actual time travel or they've just drawn inspiration from that episode of VOY.

    Safe bet: Half of the sites reporting on these casting news will have Anthony Michael Hall pics instead of Terry Serpico's.
