Where is your confidence level now with ST:Dis?

I'm just grateful I'm not in the US. With it being made available on Netflix here in the UK then I lose nothing having already got a subscription and no current plans to drop it.

So the confidence level sits around a 5/10. I'm in no great hurry to watch it, but the cast thus far is full of people I'd likely enjoy playing out a Trek morality tale or two. Just depends on if they are give In The Pale Moonlight or A Night in Sickbay to play with

Hugo - eh

That video helped, I was beginning to think it was going to crash and burn but I guess CBS is actually going to put some money into this and make it work.

Any change of boarding a new star trek series is good, but I don't know how I will get to watch it yet-online or thru Australia"s foxtel.

Sound like you need to open up your imagination, Star Trek fans (and members of this board) are across the political spectrum.

Which would be a sign of serious cognitive dissonance.

For instance, would a Trump fan who supports re-instituting torture enjoy the anti-torture theme of TNG Chain of Command?

Can't we just enjoy Star Trek without libs constant political BS.

Roddenberry intended for the show to be a platform for "libs [sic] political BS," and that vision was duly executed by producers like Gene Coon and the writers on the show - as well as the sequel shows of the 80s and 90s. If you haven't noticed before that the essential mindset of Trek is progressive, you haven't paid attention.

If you prefer a different political slant, oldBSG may be more your style - Larsen was quite right wing.

I think it will be a good show, made better by Klingon lesbians sex scenes . . . and, and, I voted for Trump, so haha.

Indeed, thanks to Netflix I have to make no new financial investment to watch it, and watch it I will. The cast looks strong and some of what we've seen so far looks promising; I hope they can do a great job with it.

Seeing the start of production video has raised my confidence lever a lot.
I still would have preferred something after Nemesis, and for anyone who thinks you can't go past Nemesis I'd just like to point out that both the novels and Star Trek Online have gone way past Nemesis and have had no trouble coming up with stories. Even with that, I'm still willing to keep an open mind, and the few little bits we saw in the video looked great.

As much as someone who opposes torture can enjoy the Voyager and Enterprise episodes where it is employed pragmatically as a means to an end, without any significant consequences.
