Which "job" on DS9 would you most like to have?

Please don't push the issue. In case I wasn't clear enough, your post is exactly the kind of thing that has made our female members uncomfortable in the past. End of story. Please remember this when composing future posts.
I heard you the first time. I wasn't arguing, I was explaining while apologizing. Will do.

I'd volunteer to collect rent for Sisko. He seems perennially behind on this task what with being the emissary, commanding the space station , fighting the dominion, raising a son, and still finding time for his baseball hobbies he seems to need a business manager.

It's been established that Quark doesn't pay rent... I wonder how many shops do, if any.

Yeah but Sisko knew how much he owed in rent over the back 5 years that he didn't pay. Implies to me the Emissary was supposed to but never got around to it. I charge reasonable rates for space tax collection and spending my time on promenade wouldn't be too bad...I could even pick up a bribe or two from Quark :)

This is a very good topic question...

I had always thought that I'd open an Earth restaurant, featuring actually grown produce and keep a supply of livestock in a cargo hold for an authentic steak or roast chicken when needed.

But then I'm working all the time.. so meh.

If I'm Starfleet, It'd be cool to work in engineering.. maybe as crew on the Defiant. If I'm just a Fed. citizen... then I guess I could do whatever I liked, or nothing at all. But I'd pick something quasi-recreational, with little to no responsibility.

I think I would end up as an engineer somewhere in the station. Not like genius kind of engineer but hands on kind who can probably solve a few problems here or there.

i would like to get into business with quark and the nagus in some of their juicy deals. maybe id make alot of latinum and alot of alien business connections. id wheel and deal for a while and then do like quarks cousin and get my own moon.

Without a doubt I'd love to work under O'Brien as one of the Engineering Team. Not the Graveyard shift of course - well maybe if Rom was part of it, then we'd go for Bacon
latest
& Eggs with Coffee when we've finished!

Jumja stick seller. No hassle, no one trying to kill me, very little production time necessary and the guy appears to earn a living for himself and his family (if he has one).

That'll do me nicely.

that's true doing the night shift with rom would be great, i'd be laughing all night. hes such a character.
I think you really have to compliment the writing on Rom who was one of my favorites as well. That's a really fine line to walk if its too goofy he becomes jar-jar binks where you have this huge drain on your plots. Not goofy enough and he's not a comic relief point. They did really well developing Rom by giving him some hopes and dreams and watching him evolve to make him more than 2 dimensional slapstick.

yes rom will surprise you some times too. like his B&E skills. and from what i remember eventually his engineering skills. oh and don't forget the time when rom actually tried to kill quark to get the bar.

I always liked O'Brien's character on DS9, how he would just get into the nuts of bolts of things. It made his character portray how any of us would react to the same situation. I could see myself as an engineer, constantly chasing repairs on a foreign built space station.

I would be a soldier of fortune, adventurer, and all-around scoundrel, with a little rented office in the Promenade as my business headquarters.

Kor

Engineering, either O'Brian's or Rom's job or one of those engineering jobs. If it ain't broken, make it better.

I would love to be a writer and a reporter, writing down the annals of Terok Nor and annals of Deep Space Nine, stories and points of view of various people from enemy fractions involved in the running of the station in times of peace and in times of war, to preserve forever.

I think I'd do one of three jobs:
1) Help Odo in security bust Quark's ass;
2) Whatever 'job' Morn does;
3) Federation historian/archaeologist helping the Bajorans rediscover/reconnect with their history, or helping them to find Cardassian (et al.) war/occupation criminals.
