Hi all. I didn't like the first book enough to read the other two, so can someone completely spoil it for me? I gather that Una rescues the missing crew, right? What's been going on for them in the intervening 18 years?

Another 'Above Average' from me and a pretty good end to the series. I feel like there was a lot of retread in the novel, but it was still enjoyable. I'm definitely going to squeeze some more TOS books into my schedule next year. It's been fun reconneting with Kirk & Spock.

My main concern with this trilogy is that my favorite parts (Una and the Jatohr) were minimized for mutinies on Klingon and Romulan ships. I though Number One was going to be as important as Erika Hernandez was to Destiny, but that never ended up being the case.

It's funny. When I was writing the first book, I was actually a little worried at how much it ended up being about Una, which was not entirely the original intent. I'm relieved that you liked those parts, but, in defense of the later books, I was the one who kinda got carried away and made Una such a big deal in Book One. The plan all along was that I would handle the Robert April flashback in Book One, then the Klingons and Romulans would take center-stage as the story moved on.

(This being the 50th Anniversary, we were trying to touch a lot of bases: April, "The Cage," Klingons, Romulans, the Organian Peace Treaty, Sarek and Amanda, Joanna, etc.)

Sounds like the most insane game ever. Calvinball™ would probably seem a lot more sane, orderly, and structured by comparison. :D

Finished my first Star Trek Lit series.
IMHO this latest book isn't on par with the great, previous entry. Plot kick off very late, almost 50% according to my Kindle. Action is repetitive, we have bad Klingon instead of superb Romulans like in "Best Defense". Pace is smooth and a bit boring compared to breakneck speed of the core section in previous books.
Overall I suggest the trilogy, but I'm fairly disappointed with this latest book. Maybe a duology with condensed story would have been a better option.

It was pretty good. Not as enjoyable as part 2 but it was a good ending to the trilogy. The Visla stuff felt like padding though. Didn’t really add much to the story.
