Agents of Shield - Season 4

I was just thinking with Agent Coulson dropping the Red Skull and Dr Whitehall's name as looking for the Darkhold book. I am remembering the Red Skull sneering at Hitler for looking for The Arc of The Covenant (Raiders of the Lost Arc) in Captain America The First Avenger. Unless further comes out about the book it seems like something the Malick wing of Hydra would have looked for, unless their "faith" was concentrated on Hive alone. And something Dr Whitehall and the Red Skull would have sneered at.

Hard to say. Whitehall did seem pretty much all about the science. But the Red Skull's search for the tesseract was pretty much the same idea as what was presented here so far. Searching out something mythic because you could see past the legend to see the scientific power of the thing. I can absolutely see him trying to get his hands on something like the Darkhold.

I for one am enjoying the season so far. From Yo-Yo's signing of the accords, to Ghost Rider, to the ghosts and the Darkhold, and even Coulson reusing his Captain America force field. Yeah, Daisy has seen better days, but I would like to see her go solo in a side story of her adventures as a secret warrior, where she could meet other heroes to help aid her (like Deathlok among others). Maybe they could come to Shield's rescue or something.

Well with an unregistered Daisy and a Ghost Rider in town Agent Coulson has the start of another Secret Warrior team. I do wonder how the MCU will adapt when DNA test comeback showing no Inhuman or alien markers. Most likely it will be assumed to be another Super Soldier attempt

I don't think they'd assume some serum could make your skull set aflame and live to talk about it. Red Skull's one thing but generating and breathing fire is another. Shield has already seen multiple types of aliens, one being a thunder welding "god". It's not a far leap to believe the "devil" is some alien too. I think they kinda touched on that idea in the show.

I'm fine with Daisy going solo as a secret warrior; my issue with her is her whiny, goth "woe is me" attitude. Solid idea, terrible execution.

Her whinyness was what I meant as she seen better days but I agree, solid idea, bad execution. Of the reasons for going solo that Agents of Shield hasn't already used, fear of loss isn't bad.

"Thoughts? Feelings? This is a safe space." :rommie:

Well, Gemma has certainly learned how to play the game. She successfully avoided the lie detector test, but now the director knows she's hiding something, so it's not much of a save. On the other hand, we also now know that the director is hiding something. Probably not that he's not an Inhuman, because he's displayed super strength-- although that could come from another source, theoretically-- but probably that he's taking credit for someone else's heroic act.

Interesting twist with Ghost Rider-- he's apparently killed everyone who could tell him who ordered the hit that crippled his brother.

And I love Coulson's semi-visible force field. :D

Daisy/Quake used to be my favorite character- I do not care at all for this whinny, poor me and my baggage arc they have her on. I would rather have her leave the show and reappear when needed like Deathlok instead.

It is ironic that GR's killing spree will now prevent him from ever learning what happened.

I do like Coulson's quizzing May on what she might have seen when she died- the fact he didn't see anything really bothers him. His reaction to her answer was amusing...

Coulson saying that he didn't see anything when he was dead directly contradicts what he told that fireman back in season 1 just before he died.

^Or maybe an implanted memory from T.A.H.I.T.I.

Also, I for one like that Daisy has an emotional reaction after his boyfriend blew up in space. It is a much normal reaction to be depressed than having none at all. But we saw on more than one occasion that she is a resilient character who can put her sanity back together given some time. Also, there has to be a story reason for this, just like with the Simmons/Fitz falling out in season 2, so the Daisey hating group should lower the pitchforks and wait a couple of episodes to see where it goes.

I don't have a problem with her reacting to Lincoln dying. That's good drama. But her acting like a whiny "woo is me, no one can help, the world is against me" shit is not good writing.

That's not how she's acting. She's acting like she was last season, as someone who's chosen to be alone because she believes that she brings suffering to the people around her. She doesn't see herself as the victim, she sees others as the victims of being around her. Which is objectively irrational, of course, but it's not implausible that someone who's had a lot of loved ones die around her would feel that way.

It's not "nobody can help me" so much as "people keep getting killed by being to close to me."

Lincoln didn't just die, he died because of her, or at least that's how she sees it. Not the first person either; remember what happened to Trip? She feels that's on her too. This isn't the kind of pathos and mental damage where you can just hug it out, have a cry and get over it. This is the kind of thing that makes you run around rooftops dressed as a bat. ;)

WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!!!

I am mildly annoyed by one little thing: the Special Thanks section of the end credits should be name-checking Mark Gruenwald not just for AIDA, but for the Watchdogs organization as well. I didn't see it.

Another thing: SHIELD is now doing pressers at the Playground with network TV newspeople?
