The Smegtastic Red Dwarf XI Thread

Give and Take is rather terrific, despite an obvious flaw in the time loop. But proper season two SF Dwarf.

Seen the first two on Dave, the Karma Drive episode last night. That ended a little abruptely.

But if it took "bad behaviour" to be alright, then wouldn't forming an angry demolition crew, performing vandilism and sabotage, smashing a bulkhead and 'whoops' breaking the power relay to the KD not have been okay?

I missed episode one, wasn't too taken by episode three, but episode two, "Samsara", was a highlight.

One of my problems with the new episodes since the show returned with the "Back to Earth" special, was it wasn't as funny as the original show.

Mind you, season one was terribly unfunny, half of season two is pretty much bullocks as well, and one of the later original seasons is mediocre, but when it was funny, it was funny. So for me, "Samsara" was like season five, six or seven episode ( I can't recall the series enough to place it more directly); not as funny as the height of the show, but still funny.

One thing that was painfully obvious however, in "Samsara", is how old Lister and Rimmer are. I hope they've given consideration yo how they'll end the series, 'cause it's not going to be the same at some point. And why is a hologram aging, by the by?

And why can't Snacky just reprogram the stasis chamber to go back before the radiation leak?

His program is degrading?, as is the holographic suite (which has been damaged a few times) and the computer cores.

They might have lost Holly to basic entropy. Maybe holograms just weren't meant to last that long, or Hardlight units, all the Ace's "aged" along with Rimmer.

And as for an ending, it's going to have to be them never getting home, time travel to the JMC of the "present" when the leak happened (and being too old to enjoy it), or getting home to a world 3 million years past anything they know.

The show established years ago that holograms age. The future evil Rimmer was much older and fatter.

The other answer is that Holly designed Rimmer's hologram to appear to age as he knew that he would very likely be keeping Lister company for many years to come.

More likely that due to Holly's senility, there was a programming error when he brought Rimmers Hologram online.

That makes sense. After all, the reason Holly "resurrected" Rimmer was to keep Lister sane by giving him a companion and a challenge to push against. If Rimmer stayed eternally young while Lister aged, that would probably be too depressing a reminder of his mortality and would work against the goal of keeping him mentally and emotionally stable.

Can't believe I've been missing this. My old Sky box hasn't been plugged in for months so I'll have to install the UKTV app that I've just discovered for the first time. :D

Wow. I'm not a fan of the UKTV app already. Watching two or three adverts before the first episode and during the advert break is fine being as I'm not paying for the channel. Then for some reason the episode stopped after I watched the adverts for the advert break. Just loaded it again and I'm watching the ads all over again. Both lots. :wtf:

The episode isn't even that exciting, so I can see myself losing patience soon enough.

You are joking?

Series1 is the best season without a doubt, and 2 is next behind. It loses its way at 3.

Season 2 is like a bullock? What do you mean?
