How about some medieval show? That should be pretty safe in that area.

For me personally the "failure" is the setting in the Kirk era, because personally Star Trek in that time period never worked for me. I saw TOS before TNG and the show and movies didnt click and never have. Only TNG clicked with me because of factors that all other shows (also DS9, VOY and ENT) miss. The fact that the team behind DIS always refers to TOS as the template makes the show a personal failure to me, because it is a template I still dont care much about. I have no problem with it, but I probably will concentrate on other things during my free time and not on DIS.

Why is this thread even still open? It's obvious trolling.

Every one should get a chance at making fun of the idea.

My only reaction to the first post is....
I don't know, some of those shows have managed to work in a pretty diverse cast, and even some LGBT characters. I think at this point the only way to avoid diversity like that would be to just stop making TV shows.... and movies..... and even books for that matter.

Don't you just love how people can watch a show about mankind overcoming its divisions and prejudices, overcoming discrimination and disharmony to go into the future alongside other species and cultures. And completely miss the point !

    IDIC you Pillock !

The Federation is comprised of 150 member worlds, of infinite diversity in infinite combinations, but don't you dare empower or represent anyone other than straight white men, or he'll write a very angry letter to CBS stating just how angry he is.

The stupidity and bigotry is strong with the OP.

Gotta be trolling. Humanity doesn't have such stupidity amongst it.

    Does it...?

The only reason Star Trek sometimes appears to have a conservative viewpoint is because quite some time has passed between now and then, and real-world progress has either caught up or overtaken it. Thus making something that was once very forward-thinking and progressive seem a little dated by comparison.

Did anyone else get deja vu from this thread? Is this the same guy who keeps signing up under new user name after new user name to post the same crap?

It's childish of me I know, but I enjoy watching people melt down over relatively trivial things.

Even if you hate everything about the direction this new show is going, there's plenty of Trek already out there to suit your tastes anyway.

I am a little disappointed that we're moving back in time instead of forward, but still will be optimistic until I witness its crappiness with my own eyes.

Considering this user hasn't replied at least once, and hasn't been online since 2 mintues after making this thread I'm calling troll.

Not just a troll, but the sort of amateur bush-league trolling I used to get up to when I was twelve.

Yeah, me (for a bit). I'm not quick to pull the trigger. People can be negative *without* being trolls.

I'll give it a bit more time before I decide what to do with it. Meanwhile, DON'T act like it's a troll thread and respond in a way that will inflame things.
