Does anyone know how Beyond is tracking for its opening weekend?

So how long does Star Trek have in the theaters? I just put out a Tweet/FB post to encourage people to see it..

I would say three weeks... tops. (In the U.S. at least)

Beyond will start dropping theaters tonight for Suicide Squad and other new releases but it's likely you'll be able to find Beyond in most major urban areas at least until the end of August probably into September.

Should be up to $190 million by the end of the week (Worldwide cume), possibly as high as $195. I'm still expecting a global take of $230-250 (excluding China). What happens with China is the key to the films success. It should make at least $50 million there, but as it has a proper distribution through Alibaba, it's unclear how much it can make. My prediction is still $300 million (minimum) to $400 million (maximum).

Both ST09 and STID did excellent business on DVD, blu-ray and digital downloads. You can see some of those numbers here:
http://www.the-numbers.com/alltime-bluray-sales-chart
http://investor.rentrak.com/releasedetail.cfm?releaseid=825897

With these kinds of numbers, whilst Beyond may 'break even' or turn a small loss in the theatrical run, it'll still make a truck load of cash. That's why there will be a Star Trek 4.

400m finish i think WW. not bad, not good. also i keep reading different suggestions for the budget from 140m-190m?

Jason Bourne and Star Trek are literally performing EXACTLY the same at the box office when you compare the days (1st day, 2nd day, etc). It is almost like the same audience saw both films (at least same type of audience). You have to assume that if there had been more separation that some of those who only chose 1 movie (a lot of older viewers might only see one movie a month or less and just don't like to see movies close together) might have been able to see both and STB would have benefited and vice versa.

Now I'm not suggesting this would have pushed STB to $200m but another $8-12 million minimum probably could have been had for each film.

And NEITHER movie was marketed all that well in my opinion.

I didn't even know there was a new Bourne film until Beyond financial discussion kicked in. My wife mentioned it ("Did yu hear they're trying that Bourne film again!?") and assumed it was in pre-planning :/

My theater stopped showing Star Trek to make room to show that cat shit...

SO glad I managed to catch a matinee of Trek on Thursday before it was gone, just 14 days for Trek at my theater which has to be a record for nonflop. I doubt Trek was doing THAT badly!

$400 million worldwide would be very good given where it sits at the moment.

It's down $45 million on its predecessors after the same number of days in the US alone and has underperformed in major international markets to date as well.

I would be surprised if they get $350 million at the box office.

I think 300 million is far more likely, perhaps even less... I don't think China will be it's saviour. Internationally Beyond is down in every country compared to Into Darkness, even more so than in the US.

Beyond is now at $194.4 million. With no new international openings. It made another $10.5 million overseas, and $10.2 million in the US.

There are 22 more openings to go between now and October.
