Yeah. They basically did what Mars Attacks did- beat the baddies with loud music.

I'll edit to add my list on my laptop later.
You guys don't know your scifi history at all. Go look up a movie called "Earth vs the Flying Saucers.

It is a movie with massive plot holes. Seriously, we have to buy that Kirk is so rusty that he doesn't raise his shields? The Wrath of Khan is saved by the scene chewing by Shatner and Montalban, and the Mutara Nebula battle.

We ALSO have to buy:

- On approach to the Ceti Alpha system, the U.S.S. Reliant's sensors CAN'T tell that Ceti Alpha VI has been destroyed (or that there's a new debris field in the system; or that all the other planets in the system have had their orbits shifted, etc.)

- That Khan and his followers can breathe 'diathene' and other hamful gasses (they were only wearing cloaks and visors, no environment suits - and the Reliat science officer stated as they scanned, that the planet was incapable of supporting life - and Chekov and Terell did beam down in EVA suits.

- That Chekov was someone ON the Enterprise during it's first season (he wasn't and they make mention in teh second season that he just recently joined the crew) and was on the ship for the events in 'Space Seed' so that Khan doesn't have to somehow be a psychic to never forget Chekov's face.

- That (for whatever reason) Chekov and Terell couldn't contact the Reliant and beam out directly from the cargo container. Their communications must have worked as we had a scene of the Reliant Bridge of Kyle asking them to respond. HAD theyn beamed out, Khan would never have gotten his hands on them.

- Also, as the Enterprise is running into the Mutara Nebula - before it enters, Khan fires (and hits with) a Photon torpedo. Why is this relevant? IF the Reliant WAS in weapons range of the Enterprise, WHY wasn't Khan trying to disable/destroy the ship BEFORE it enters the Nebula?

And BTW as I said in my list, even with all that I STILL rank STII:TWoK as #1 or #2 (depending on my mood.) It just goes to show that a Star trek film CAN be full of plotholes AND ignore established canon (IE when Chekov actually came on board the 1701 as part of the crew); and STILL be held in high regard among Star Trek fandom in general.

My initial reaction for Beyond was it narrowly surpassed TWOK for my favorite, but after another viewing, it's tied equally with TWOK and TMP for my top favorites. I love each one equally for the different classic-crew Trek "flavors" they present.

Here is my personal list. Fully expect jeers but I'm an odd fan.

Beyond
First Contact
Wrath Of Khan
Star Trek 09
Insurrection
Into Darkness
The Voyage Home
The Undiscovered Country
Search For Spock
Generations
Nemesis
The Motion Picture
The Final Frontier

Always have enjoyed Insurrection because it felt like to me it felt like an episode of TNG & it'sthe one Trek film my wife enjoyed. The three latest films I've really enjoyed & FC was my #1 favorite from its release.

TWOK
STB
TMP
Search for Spock
"Thar be Whales!'
Generations
STID
ST09
ST First Contact
Undiscovered Country
Final Frontier

So many memories..........feel very lucky to have the Trek franchise.

I think we're lucky it continues on in a meaningful way. Twenty-five years ago, I would've been astonished that it would still going strong in my 40's.

Paramount could have made some easy cash with a Jack Black/Will Ferrell comedy that made fun of TOS and Star Trek in general after the failures of Nemesis and Enterprise.

UPDATE: every single movie has been in someone's bottom 4, only STB has never been bottom 3. only STB, TWOK and TUC have never been bottom 2. only TWOK, TSFS, TUC, and STB have never been rated the very worst.

actually, with how different TVH is, I'm surprised no one's given it the very worst until recently. but TWOK in bottom 3 is the trolliest thing I've ever seen:

"8. GEN
9. TFF
10. INS
11. TWOK"

^I would pay a hundred dollars for a sincere youtube video of someone explaining why they feel this way. that would crack me up bad. actually, given his STID ranking of #1, he prob just feels like TWOK is obsolete now, lol.

Art is subjective. The last time I looked, we were all entitled to our own opinions. I'm afraid I don't understand why someone couldn't consider Nemesis the best and WOK the worst. It's their opinion.

that's going waaaaay too far. if there was nothing objective, and they were truly all equally good, they would all be in seemingly random places on everyone's lists. some have better pacing. some have better dialogue. some have better plot/sequence of events. some have better acting.

think about it, if you set out to purposefully make the very worst star trek movie ever, how easily could you succeed? what's next, your local garage band's music is better than Clapton = JUST opinion?! what does it matter if someone's biased, my biases don't lead me to say that the Clash is better than Mozart just b/c I listen to it way more often.

there's a reason that when someone says something like, "I enjoy Con Air more than The Godfather," it comes with a disclaimer such as, "but that's just me," or "I just grew up with it." however, no one would even say, "I enjoy the Godfather more than Con Air, BUT THAT'S JUST ME! I KNOW IT'S WEIRD, DON'T GET ALL CRAZY!" you don't justify something like that, you just say, "lol, the Godfather is leagues above con air."

TWOK is a very enjoyable film however I personally don't find Khan convincing as a superhuman and Kirk's failure to put up the shields annoys me every time.

If you are willing to pay me in GBP I'll go do my make up for the you tube video.

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I was exaggerating. If its someone's personal preference if they don't like Wrath of Khan, that doesn't make it wrong. Its opinion. That is my point. Period. Personally, I think its a good movie but I also believe its a little overrated.

And as others have said: Just give us your list.

1. The Wrath Of Khan
2. First Contact
3. The Undiscovered Country
4. The Search For Spock
5. Generations
6. Beyond
7. The Motion Picture

13. Into Darkness

I am glad to see TUC getting some love here; I think it gets overlooked sometimes. My wife and I were appreciating it the other day when we were talking about how the Marvel moves are good/fun because they are other movie-genres with comic book dressing: Thor is a fish out of water movie, Winter Soldier is a spy thriller, Ant Man is a heist movie, etc. TUC is a political/conspiracy movie in Trek context that had the aded bonus of being (in a good way) topically applicable to its time with the fall of the Soviet Union. It's really great Star Trek, IMO, even though there are some flaws in the movie (Uhura doesn't speak Klingon? Wasn't it the Excelsior that was cataloging gaseous anomalies? Starfleet/UFP is so diplomatically tone-deaf to agree to the conspirators' plan to send someone the Klingons consider to be a war criminal? etc...)

In any case, here's my list; all of this is IMHO and I in no way claim validity over anyone else's list:

Beyond (it's "Mr. Right-Now" for me; will probably settle a little lower over time)
TUC (see above)
ST 2009 (revitalized the franchise, hopefully not temporarily)
TWOK (classic, though the very last scene on the bridge undermines it a bit)
TSFS (a little under-rated, IMO. The stealing the Enterprise sequence is pretty great)
FC (only this high because it's the closest TNG got to something special)
TMP (there's a good movie in here amongst the sloooooow plus I'm a sucker for long sweeping shots of the Enterprise and this is practically pornography for that)
TVH (profoundly goofy but endearing because of goodwill with the cast/characters and wraps up the unofficial trilogy pretty well)
STID (does fine until the "homage")
TFF (the character moments/interactions save this from being last. Marsh mellon?!?)
INS (this is the only TNG movie where the characters act like themselves; too bad the story and plot are dumb)
GEN (cannot forgive this movie for killing two great characters in dumb ways/circumstances: Kirk and the Ent-D)
NEM (that this movie was greenlit in any phase of its production is a crime against the franchise, its fans, and movies as a medium)
