I don't "do" rankings. But it's definitely among the Treks that I love.

my mind is blown. every single ST movie has taken a place among the top 5 and the bottom 5 in one list or another...

FF or INS top 5, really?

FC, VH, UC bottom 5, really?

WoK NOT top 3, commonly, REALLY?!

okay, NEM didn't make a top 5, but it got #6 3 times.... WoK never got bottom 5, but it got a bottom 7, so I suppose this is a SLIGHT exaggeration, but damn.

only ones never in top 4: NEM, GEN. only ones never in bottom 4: UC, WoK

only ones never in top 3: still only NEM and GEN. the only ones never in bottom 3 are WoK, UC, STB.

only ones never in top 2: FF, NEM, GEN, INS. only ones never in bottom 2: WoK, VH, UC, STB.

only ones never #1: TSFS, FF, GEN, NEM, INS. only ones never #1 worst: WoK, TSFS, VH, UC, STB.

I've been on this page for a while, lol. and I only counted lists that ranked all 13 movies. (also, when someone has a tie for first and then lists #2, that #2 is obv their third fav and doesn't count as top 2)

Yet more proof that filmmakers should make what they want and hope for the best, rather than trying to "please the fans". Regardless of the order of ranking, everyone who made a list is a Trek fan. Clearly there is no one "best way" to please them.

I agree, there is no "key" to making these movies. I think Beyond hit all the right notes for fans. I guess that a lot of casual fans are waiting for downlaods and bluray.

The more movies there are...the harder it is to rank them. I have seen Beyond twice now...and have some perspective on how I think it might fit in. This is my current ranking (which is different than what I've presented in the past most likely)

    2. TSFS
    3. TFF

My, my! All these questions, and yet no list of your own? Really? :p

Think about it, though: if everyone ranked the movies in exactly the same order, every single time, there really wouldn't be any point in having a thread like this, would there? Because you'd already have the order permanently engraved on your brain, and it would be just the same as everyone else's, and there would be nothing at all to talk about.

Sounds pretty dull, don't you think? .

    TWOK
TMP (for all its pacing faults just beautiful to repeat watch, especially for attention to practical visual effects. Love artistry, and almost operatic)
STB (the first new timeline film I genuinely enjoyed for characters and heart)
    TFF (my guilty pleasure :))
STID/09 (can't say I 'love' either of these, but they are well-made and enjoyable so grudgingly place higher)
    NEM
    FC
INS (but only with Frakes/Sirtis commentary, which raises it to genuinely hilarious MST3K levels)
TSFS (first half up to leaving spacedock great; rest is really rather dull)
TUC (good but feels really dated and bit clunky)
TVH (fun but rarely have desire to rewatch)
GEN (it's not terrible, and the cinematography is A+, but I just don't care. It's just a transition/torch handover)

UPDATE: every single movie has been in someone's bottom 4, only STB has never been bottom 3. only STB, TWOK and TUC have never been bottom 2. only TWOK, TSFS, TUC, and STB have never been rated the very worst.

actually, with how different TVH is, I'm surprised no one's given it the very worst until recently. but TWOK in bottom 3 is the trolliest thing I've ever seen:

    "8. GEN
    9. TFF
    10. INS
    11. TWOK"

^I would pay a hundred dollars for a sincere youtube video of someone explaining why they feel this way. that would crack me up bad. actually, given his STID ranking of #1, he prob just feels like TWOK is obsolete now, lol.

It is a movie with massive plot holes. Seriously, we have to buy that Kirk is so rusty that he doesn't raise his shields? The Wrath of Khan is saved by the scene chewing by Shatner and Montalban, and the Mutara Nebula battle.

Still mocking the choices of others, and still no list of your own.

    Don't do that.

Just because someone gives a low ranking to a movie which is frequently ranked high by other Trek fans does not make it OK for you to accuse them of trolling. This is a thread soliciting opinions, and they've given theirs. Your agreement is not required, but there's a way to disagree while remaining civil about it, and that wasn't it.

Here's an idea: how about you post a list showing the way you would rank the movies, the same as everyone else has been doing? If you feel like explaining your choices, that's fine and you're free to do so, but no one owes you any explanation for an opinion which happens to differ from yours.

Yeah. They basically did what Mars Attacks did- beat the baddies with loud music.

I'll edit to add my list on my laptop later.
