The time-lapse construction sequence was amazing. And there was a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance of a Miranda in the background, our first non-Enterprise, non-Vengeance, non-Kelvin-kitbash Starfleet ship in the new movies.
It looks like something somebody came up with at the last minute. Luckily for us, thanks to the magic of CGI they have three years to improve upon it.
I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm going to have to remove the video clip since it appears to be taken from a bootleg copy of the film rather than any promotional materials. It's one thing for some still images to be posted, but a full video clip could potentially cause some problems. Sorry again.Found this on Youtube.
Bootleg video clip removed by mod (sorry) - Locutus
What do you guys think of the design?
Spockboy
Nonsense.
They could have just re-used the same Enterprise NCC-1701 model and amended the ships' registry.
The changes to the saucer, the neck, the grey metallic finish and the window placement shows they spent a good amount of thought into evolving the 2009 ship.

I'll leave the thread open so you guys can continue talking about the design.
I fail to see how my comment is "nonsense." The new ship doesn't look all that different from the old ship, other than a few tweaks here and there. It's not like they spent months and months coming up with a whole new design for the nuEnt-A.
The Prime timeline Refit was result of many technological advances since the TOS. Since in the Kelvin timeline the 'TOS' technology is already far in advance in most areas all bets are off as to what or when we may see next. The refit we all know and love wasn't conceived until 2270 - so we got another 6 in-universe years until the nuEnterprise can evolve into something like that.![]()
There could be another one, but the Miranda I spotted is at the very beginning of the sequence, in the upper-right corner of the screen, barely peaking out behind the Enterprise and construction ships. It's harder to see in the bootleg video, for obvious reasons, but it's easiest to catch when the time-lapse effect begins; the ship picks up speed and you can see the rollbar come into view.Really?? Where is it?
