What's in YOUR 'head canon'?

Exactly. There's too much of it over too much time for there not to be differences, inconsistencies, anachronisms, retcons and plain old stuff that doesn't make any sense.
That may be true - but this thread is about the things we internalize to solve issues that bug us.

For example, why does Will Riker always stand so close to everybody - especially the Captain?
My theory is that he is hard of hearing, and that Picard wears a particularly attractive brand of aftershave.

I don't really sit in front of the tv or computer trying to figure out silly things like that. Occasionally, something will annoy me but I let it go and enjoy the episode or movie for what it is.

All five live action series and thirteen movies are canon, the animated series is a slightly exaggerated canon of the true live action version we could have had. The Prime universe and Kelvin universe exist concurrently in a parallel quantum arrangment to each other but cannot be reconciled or undone either way.

Destiny, Watching the Clock, the Enterprise relaunch novels are canon. Rise of the Federation is a highly distorted version of what happened post 2161 and suspect in it's depictions and details.

I believe that Sybok's mother was a Vulcan priestess, not a princess. I know Nimoy said princess on screen, but maybe it was just a mistake that nobody caught before the film was released. If I'm not mistaken the novelization backs this up.

Yeah, more likely. Unless the Vulcans have a figurehead monarchy that is not as popular as Britain's?

Another part of my head-continuity (SPOILERS for the new film):

Commodore Paris, commanding officer of Starbase Yorktown, is indeed the ancestor of the Paris family that we are already familiar with - meaning, Admiral Owen Paris and his son Lt. Tom Paris. There is absolutely NOTHING in Star Trek Beyond which precludes the possibility that Commodore Paris already has a husband and children.

@Jedi_Master: The thing about Riker always standing so close to people? That's probably got something to do with the back injury that Jonathan Frakes suffered while moving furniture. It's the reason why he's always leaning on something (like a control panel or desk), why he walks like he's trying to knock something down with his shoulders, and why he always sits in chairs in the weird way that he does.

Edit: just thought of more additions to my head-continuity:

- There is no such thing as "Starship class". There is starship TYPE, yes. But not class. That, in my headcon, is strictly reserved for the name of the first starship of that class to be built.

- Baseball is not dead and never was. So there. :p

- The comic "Retrospect" (about Scotty's marriage) really did happen.

* TOS-era tech was bulky and redundant on purpose to make it both heavy-duty (able to survive a blast, crash, etc) and hard to hack. As the timeline progressed, technology/computer programming was further refined and stronger metals were discovered as well.

* That is Toronto City Hall in the Iconian Gateway. My nearby hometown, Mississauga, also exists into the 24th century.

Or no husband at all and children. Or a daughter that carries on the Paris name. It is the future after all.
Weird responding to a spoiler with a spoiler but we can't be too careful.

But is it REALLY a spoiler? Anyone who checks IMDB or Memory Alpha can get the complete cast list, without even seeing the film. And it's not as if Shohreh Aghdashloo's involvement was some kind of secret.

And I think it is very likely that Commodore Paris is intended to be a member of the famous Paris family. STB was filled with name drops from all over Trek - this was just one more of those.

As a frequent visitor to Toronto, I approve this message. :techman:

I've had friends get angry with me for mentioning something in a trailer...or the end of a TV show that ended six years ago.

After getting rid of the High Command government, the Vulcan people eventually settled upon a aristocracy form of government, with a active ruling royal family holding the position of both head of state and head of government. The upper level aristocracy sends representatives to a upper legislature like body. the heads of inter-connected families (clan-like?) decide on who is sent to the lower legislature body.

Liberal democracy fan: "But but, all Federation planets have to have governments identical to Earth's." Everything has to be the same everywhere !!!!!!!"

*pant pant*

Oh. Now your facts have ruined my head canon. I curse you with the inability to make puns! For. All. Time!

Didn't the show mention a High Council, which kept the good ones from the High Command?

I think the OP meant for the thread to be light-hearted but some posts ended up very serious. As for some of my head canon, TATV is a textbook example of how to get the broad strokes wrong. Therefore, it's a highly inaccurate holostory.

Vulcans don't need to go home like salmon to deal with their pon farr, unless of course, their chosen partner happens to be there. Good move of Search for Speak (and everything afterwards) to ignore that line from Amok Time. If that was the case, the plot would be way too complicated in the scenario that a spouse was on the same ship/planet.
