I officially began my journey through all Star Trek on October 9th...

LMAO WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT

I'M FUCKING DONE

I'm only going to say this once, It never happened. ;)

Do I remember this correctly..?

Wasn't warp 10 something that could not be reached... Travelling at that speed means you would be simultaneously in every part of the universe at the same time. Yet, Paris was able to do that with very limited resouces.

I hate how Voyager poops all over TNG...

About 'Threshold'
Partially quoted from Memory Alpha:
The writers began developing the story by asking themselves what it might be like to break a fundamental rule of the Star Trek universe that had existed ever since the early days of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Jeri Taylor recalled, ”Gene Roddenberry made the determination at the beginning of Next Gen that warp ten would be the limit, and at that point you would occupy all portions of the universe simultaneously.”
- end quote.

And then there's the Borg thing and the "real" first contact with the Borg...

Where no man has gone before... TNG's sixth episode did it better.
In fact it could have been a quasi sequel and much better that way.
Voyager's crew coming up with the idea to combine the slipstream tech with old warp field equations from Enterprise's logsfrom that Kosinski guy and the traveler.
Then the episode plays very similar to what we get, only Paris doesn't de-evolve but develops similar mind powers to the Traveler but can not in the slightest control them, maybe influencing other crew members and blurring the line between reality and thoughts.
Things escalate and he seems to become a danger to the ship, going rogue and recreating the experiment.
The crew goes after him to find him in the care of some aliens on a planet and they turn out to be the Traveler's species?

@Timelord Victorious Now that would have been a good episode. Instead they gave us what they gave us. One of you said in another post (it was put in spoilers) that Braga was inspired by the movie "The Fly".

☑ Destroy physics.
☑ Break every rule you've previously established in this universe.
☑ Ruin the entire conceit of the holodeck.
☑ Use overwhelming amount of technobabble that makes no sense.
☑ Establish that lizards have evolved from humans.
☑ Give lizard Tom a mate in lizard Janeway.
☑ Have lizard Tom and lizard Janeway make lizard babies.
☑ De-Lizardizer Machines DO come in handy.
You forgot one:

☑ Abandoned children.

HA! The writers have been pooping on that rule since day one. Watch this video, from about 7:45 --

Seska too (had to look up her name, that's how forgettable she is).
Seska's character probably made more sense as a disgruntled Bajoran than as a Cardassian secret agent. She didn't seem anything like Marritza, Garak, Gilora, or Dukat, a sign that Voyager was diverging from DS9. But she also didn't feel like Gul Madred. Moreover, she had some of the worst qualities of the typical mid-90s, Joe Esterhas female villains.

S02E16: Meld - Honestly, this is the first episode I've actually liked. Damn great performances from Tim Russ and Brad Dourif with some much, much needed character focus on Tuvok.
Tim Russ was a talented, if not very "sexy," actor who got ignored a lot on the show. His character should have shown more evolution than was written for it. And really, was it too much to ask for Tuvok to be friends with Neelix?

Glad to say I've noticed quite a large bump in quality after watching Threshold. The first half of the season hit some dangerously low lows and was a real slog to get through, but it got pretty good all of a sudden. Regained a lot of excitement for my VOY watch-through.

S02E17: Dreadnought - I like B'Elanna. I like this episode. Turns out Cardassian interiors really don't look all that different from ship-to-ship, station-to-station. Made me somewhat nostalgic for DS9!

S02E18: Death Wish - Q! Commander Riker! Another episode I actually really liked! You'd be hard-pressed to find any episode with John de Lancie that isn't a lot of fun.

S02E19: Lifesigns - The Doctor. Need I say more? Seriously adorable episode.

Did you already watch the episode "Deadlock"? I want to hear your opinion about it.

I should have taken this more seriously.

I should have taken LSD before watching that.

We did warn you. I mean Braga telegraphed this one years ahead. There was plenty of warning. Although to be fair, even he remains deeply embarrassed by this one. On a happy note, It's all Up from here. Straight through to Enterprise there are no worse moments than this. There will be some bad moments. Just none quite this bad. I'm actually impressed. Most people end up watching this episode twice, just to convince themselves that they did in fact see what they just saw.

Astonishingly it is also one of the few times where a setup used in one episode is not forgotten, and is instead used to payoff later.

Also buck up. You are heading to season 3, which actually does have some high points. It begins well. The second episode Flashback will make you VERY happy in some ways. And it ends extremely well with Scorpion Part I. Which is to Voyager in many ways what The Jem'Hadar was to DS9... just not as good.
