But no need to write "(2009)". That's not in the title of the movie; there's only one movie named Star Trek.

Here on these forums and in this context it is not needed, but considering that a motion picture called 'Star Trek' is a different thing than 'Star Trek: the Motion Picture' it might generally be prudent to make the distinction clear.

There is a "Star Trek" TV series and animated series, so the (2009) is just there to eliminate any confusion.

Aww man, TFF still last despite Spock's totally a-physical rocket-boots heroics in the opening scene?;)

This chart is useless. When I first saw a demo in a store of 4K, I was standing 4 feet away and we could tell the difference immediately. We are 10+ feet away from the 55" 4k and we can tell a difference between a 4k Source video and 1080p..though as I've said before, from a good source, 1080p uprezzed looks slightly better.

It's not like they pulled these numbers out of their ass. They're calculated and are a bit more reliable than @RAMA's simple eye test.

The reason it may look better is either because you've convinced yourself it's supposed to look better (trust me, this is much more common than you think) or because 4K's HDR. The colours are much deeper and pop more. But in terms of overall picture quality, it shouldn't look all that different.

Yes I know this is what they claim, but in reality, I'd challenge anyone to take the eye test on a 4k Demo film from 4 feet away. I guarantee you'll laugh at this chart.

I don't understand what point you're making. You're agreeing with the chart?

It says right there that 4 feet away DOES make a difference when watching anything on a 50"+ screen. And there's not many 4K screens out there smaller than that.

The chart suggests less benefit with closer distance, which is true, but I'm saying that it is certainly very noticeable. There have been people on this BBS who suggest that it makes no difference anywhere unless you are the far range and with a big screen. :techman:

Anyway, done with the thread hijack.

Having seen Star Trek: Beyond twice, I would put in between First Contact and WoK.

Really liked the theme of conflicting views on whether war or "humanity" ensures survival.

This is always fun to do...as each time I think my answer changes a little depending on where I'm at.

Spaces between films indicate their relative position on my personal scale.
