I made the mistake to read the last phrase of the book. My interest was quickly piqued. I don't want to reveal anything. It will take some time until I can start reading it, though.

I picked mine up Friday evening, and it's sitting with the two books I mentioned earlier in the thread, to be read on my Spring vacation.

    Burned through this one yesterday.

I didn't find the Iramahl as compelling as the Certoss, but I certainly got a thrill out of what Kirk and co. pull this time.

I can appreciate how this novel builds (or rather, continues from previous narratives) Roberta Lincoln as her own character who doesn't need babysitting from Gary Seven.

It bothers me that the references to the DTI don't completely match up with how other novels, especially Forgotten History, have portrayed Kirk and his crew's interactions with the DTI. But that's a minor quibble since the DTI has no role in this story.

Still loving time travel and Aegis stories.

Now I want a sequel to this story featuring Rain Robinson. Maybe with a scene or two connecting to The Rings of Time.

According to Trek Collective Dayton Ward has said that he has an idea for a sequel to this one too.

If the epilogue is an indication of where such a sequel could go, I am very interested.

Forgotten History depicts the Enterprise crew directly and repeatedly interacting with the DTI's founders and their first wave of personnel. But the Enterprise crew's dialogue in Elusive Salvation seems to me as though they have never had or only rarely had direct interaction with DTI personnel.

I think you're overstating the Enterprise crew's involvement with DTI personnel. Before the DTI was founded, they interacted with a couple of future DTI members, Dr. T'Viss and Meijan Grey, but it was only once in the former case and twice in the latter.Their main interactions were with Commodore/Admiral Delgado, who was never actually a member of the DTI, which is a civilian agency. After the DTI's formation in 2270, I only depicted one direct interaction between the Enterprise crew and the DTI, taking place in 2275. I don't know when Elusive Salvation is set.

I'm about halfway through and loving it. What's even better, its set during the movie era. It's really been freshening up the TOS books using this setting lately, in the last few books.

I enjoyed the book myself, and, just like before with From History's Shadows, I can't wait to see what comes next - particularly the 20th century sections.

Is it considered a story idea to wonder what would happen if somebody from the 24th century or beyond were to interact with Majestic-12 or Gary Seven, Roberta Lincoln, or Mestral? If so, I'm sorry and won't mention it again.

It's not a story idea to ask what would happen. It would be a story idea to propose an answer.

Kirk unable to remember a name once more....

    Bennett. Beyer. Bonnano ?????

Hilarious. And there was one familiar name more in it. I like gimmicks like that.
