Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

If the Flash is supposed to be some alternate dimension, it cheapens the crossover, as there's no stability--i.e. a chance for regular appearances from anyone in his world. ...and before someone says, "b--b-ut DC had dimension and world (ex. Earth II) visitis forever," I would say TV is not going to be so liberal with that option.

And they're introducing
Project Cadmus
in the previous episode, so maybe they could also have something to do with it...

Early on, I predicted that would be a part of the series; its too strong a plot to avoid using--especially with what was established in this week's episode.

Pretty sure they don't want it to be easy. Even DC early on, limited the number of crossovers to once a year events in the Comics. It took years for them to develop the transmatter device that alowed for the characters to hop Earths like it was drive to the next town over.

Easy enough to explain in the show - have Alura's hologram explain multiverse theory but that the Kryptonians never managed to travel between 'verses, however their research did lead to the discovery of the Phantom Zone...

Fair enough, but personally I find the Cat scenes far more fun and interesting to watch than anything to do with the DEO. And if there were anything I would cut or phase out from the show, it would be that.

They may have been set up to play a more important role, but the idea of Supergirl working with some secret military alien-hunting organization still just feels a bit weird to me. And I really wish the writers had found a better way to work characters like Hank and Alex into the show.

The DEO stuff is the only thing that makes Supergirl a superhero show at this point. If it wasn't for them, she'd probably spend 30 minutes an episode as Kara being the verbally abused minion of a moronic CEO, 10 minutes in some love triangle and maybe 5 minutes stopping a random crime as Supergirl. One thing this show has done well is make me want a real Supergirl show. I hope we get one, someday. Maybe when Green Arrow gets to be the star of his own show again, after Greg Berlanti is allowed to quit and go make the non-superhero Soap Opera he obviously wants to write, we'll get a real Supergirl show. Until then, its wasted potential that I'll suffer through until Flash comes and goes.

That jail cell, btw - Glass walls, no toilet, no bed, only a bench not even big enough to lay down on. Harsh! But he gets to stay in his street clothes.
Is every cell in the middle of a 50-foot-round room? Lots of wasted space.

He has a tracker.

Maxwell needs to stripped naked and his clothes burnt.

The track is probably under his skin like a dog.

Kidnapping is a real problem, prudent billionaires take precautions.

Yeah I suppose that would be one way to do it. Although honestly with all the other weird things and crazy superpowers they've encountered already, a guy traveling from a parallel Earth doesn't really seem that out of the ordinary.

And we were bound to see something like that eventually, whether it was with Barry or someone else.

On Facebook, Andy Mangels played with the contrast on that script cover page that Gustin posted and brought out some of the cast list showing through from the next page. It reveals that the "Worlds Finest" episode will feature not only Barry/The Flash, but also...
Livewire and Siobhan Smythe/Silver Banshee. Makes sense to have the Flash in an episode whose villain/s is/are metahuman rather than alien.

Sounds like no Cisco in the crossover, which is a shame.
Vibe has dimension related abilities. They could have framed it with Cisco testing out his abilities and accidentally vibing himself and Barry to Earth-SG.

It's because it's on CBS. The Superman thing isn't really a factor to the networks involved nor is it "DC Multiple Earth Stupidity". The "stupidity" is a way to make it happen and keep all parties happy.

So it's stupidity that makes people happy.

It's still stupid.

I don't know why, but this crossover feels like a Plan B to me. If Supergirl gets cancelled, they will have established the Arrowverse as a place she could escape to and live on. As a precursor to the Crisis in Barry's future, Supergirl could turn out to be (or at least believe she is) the lone survivor of her universe. That then gives her a place to make guest appearances on Flash or even head up a season of Legends. If there's some kind of licensing conflict, they could probably have her adopt the name Power Girl.

I just have a feeling they're hedging their bets.

Funny...usually when something is rare, that makes it more valuable.

The existence of parallel worlds should be a good thing.

Harry is a businessman.

He has to see the economic possibilities to dominate Earth 1 like it's a third word banana Republic.

What about ecological concerns to avert or reverse the extinction of animals and plants.

Team Flash is being selfish because they might think that this is a new atom bomb if abused correctly?

Yes. It's deliberately taking the hardest route to do something that should actually be a no brainer.

Marvel Cinematic Universe (IM, Thor, Cap, Ant-Man, Guardians), Marvel Network shows (Agents of Shield, Agent Carter), Marvel XD cartoons (Spider Man, Hulk, Avengers, Guardians), Marvel Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones). Different staffs, different media, different distribution formats...

ONE UNIVERSE. Period. If Jessica Jones wants to play tourist at the Avengers tower she doesn't have to conquer the speed force and run through dimensions. She can get on the freakin' subway to Manhattan.

It's stupid if this is CBS trying to keep the "Super" brand exclusive to CBS because it's already not exclusive to CBS. Building some super mentions into the CW shows would have laid the groundwork nicely for this crossover and allowed more characters to participate...and Barry could freakin' just run to National City. And Kara could easily fly to star or Central Cities. And Cat could kill herself trying to unmask the Green Arrow. why the hell not?

Nope. Gotta do the preTVCrisis Earth one Earth two BS.

Stupid.

All indications are that Supergirl is a big hit. TVLine has the show down as "a safe bet" for renewal. If anything, I see it the other way around -- since CBS has far more viewers than The CW, a Flash appearance on Supergirl is probably meant to help The Flash's ratings by bringing the character to the attention of Supergirl's audience.

I just have a feeling they're hedging their bets.

I think it's simply that the producers love bringing all the wild ideas of the comics to TV, and that includes crossovers and multiverses. I mean, the fans have been pushing for a crossover since the show was first announced. Fans love crossovers, and the producers are fans as much as we are.

CBS paid a lot of money for the exclusive(?) rights to use the Supergirl stable of characters (for a contracted period of time?). Not protecting that investment, or maximizing the return on that investment is financially irresponsible.

It's like lending your neighbour a car for a week.

If it's a 3 thousand dollar piece of shit, sure. Who gives a damn.

If it's $40,000 worth of German engineering and they want to use it to cart around a soccer team of 8 year olds covered in mud and snot, you might have made a terrible mistake, and think that your neighbour owes you 40 grand and an apology.

Well why do they think mingling the characters with CW shows would screw up their investment, especially when you remember that the creators of their show also create the CW shows, the CW is owned by the same people who own all the original rights to the characters, and as such the only goal of everybody involved would actually be to maximize the investment? All you're saying is that CBS is protecting their investment by putting roadblocks in the way of a move that could only increase its value!

Stupid.

Because the creative people who want to tell an awesome story are not the accountants crunching numbers trying to make 10's of millions of quatloos from of a recipe for certain bankruptcy.

Is there any gossip about Greg Berlanti and Greg Berlanti not getting along?

These Hollywood types can develop the most usual animosities and feuds over almost nothing that can last for years and years.

EDIT

Some of us are saying that CBS wants to be paid well (with a lot of money or something to the equal value of a lot of money) by the CW/Warner Bros, before it will follow through on what is in it's best interest to do so any way.

Imagine if I was to pay you to breathe.

Imagine I gave you 5 dollars every time you breathed in and out.

If I changed my mind, after a year of this, and stopped paying you to breathe, would you stop breathing, or look for some fool willing to pay you 7 dollars to breathe in and out? Or shouldn't you have already been looking for someone to pay you 7 dollars to breathe while I was still paying you 5 dollars to breathe?
