Snoke - speculation (spoilers)

And in a soap opera twist, Leia is Rey's mother, but Han is not the father!

Maybe her father is that dude from the beginning who's name I can't remember but who was supposedly important for some reason.

Snoke is a Yuuzhan Vong equivalent in the Disneyverse. In Episode 8, Kylo Ren will learn Rey is his twin sister, Jaina.

I hope that Snoke isn't a Yuuzhan Vong equivalent. He's not as well designed as what I've seen of the Yuuzhan Vong art. I liked the look of the Yuuzhan Vong.

Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed that Grand Admiral Thrawn never made it out of the EU and onto the big screen. Of all the semi-canon characters, he (and maybe Mara Jade) would have made excellent characters in the new trilogy (IMO). At least there are two more movies, plus the Rogue One anthology series, so, maybe...

I'm actually pretty disappointed with the design of Snoke. He just looks like an old man with scars. If he was really inhumanly big, you can still use an actor & grow them digitally. So the question is, why did they say he had to be CGI? Is he going to bend his joints backwards & walk on the ceiling in the next movie maybe?

Actually, he looks like Gollum, Voldemort, etc...

Isn't Snoke motion-capture? That's why they got Andy Sirkis.

The particular bone structure of his head and face, as well as the scarring, wasn't something they could really do with makeup.

But I think it would have been possible to do something like Aaron Eckhart in "The Dark Knight."

Andy Serkis is 5'8. I could see CGI even if they wanted him to be 6'2.

That being said, I'm assuming they hired Serkis because they wanted him to be CGI. They didn't cast him and then go "oh shit, we need to make him CGI because he's too short."

They hired him before the character was completed and went though changes, likely based on Serkis' performance.

The worst thing about Snoke is that he just kinda looks fake. I don't know, maybe his eyes are too far apart.

He was a hologram. Maybe someone remembers the first time we saw Paplatine in 1980 when he looked entirely unnatural via hologram (since corrected).

Plus, I don't think Snoke is supposed to be exactly human. It makes sense for his face to be shaped differently from ours.

Yeah, it was an old lady in a rubber mask with chimpanzee eyes superimposed over hers. By the time they got to Jedi, they figured they could probably do a little better than that. Hologram or not, that's pretty much gonna be Snoke.

Then again they probably said the same thing when Voldermort began his cinematic life as a crappy CGI design. Come to think of it, they do both look like they're suffering from the same affliction; Imhotepititis.

Sorry, but the insertion of the bloated-faced later emperor into the ESB hologram scene (and with ROTS makeup instead of ROTJ makeup, to boot) is not a "correction." I would rather see the half-monkey faced emperor in that scene, by a long shot.

Not to mention the dialog being changed to tie more explicitly to the dreadful prequel trilogy.

What if Snoke isn't even real? Perhaps he's a piece of First Order propaganda created to keep the soldiers in line, destroy the Jedi, and seduce Ben to be their dark side warrior.

Then who seduced Kylo to the dark side?

To me, it's clear he's at least extremely knowledgeable in the Force just because of the abilities Kylo Ren has.
